Listening to all the mainstream radio stations talking about this (today fm, news talk) is making me sick. This woman is clearly playing the system and giving genuine homeless family’s a terrible rep. I switched stations as I couldn’t listen to it anymore and came across 4 fm talking about it. The presenter is actually asking proper questions that the tax payers paying for this scam want answers to.
I think the presenters name is nial boylan. He’s asked:
    where is the father?
Why has this woman 7 kids when she can’t look after them.
He has commented on how, when all reliefs and payments are added up the total cost is coming to 49000 pa for the state.
He’s commenting on personal responsibility, which seems to have gone out the window in this case in particular.
Genuine people that need help should get it. This is not genuine , it’s a scam.
Delighted! I knew Niall would be the only one to call her out, or ask the hard questions at least. The only presenter will the balls to do so

This is apparently happening now in Dublin somewhere:
Thapelo Mohapi is General Secretary of Abhahlali Base Mjondolo who will be speaking this Friday in Dublin at Lunch time.

‘Occupy, Resist, Develop’ is the rallying call of Abahlali Base Mjondolo (abahlali.org) – a mass democratic, grassroots social movement of the shack dwellers and the poor in South Africa. Born in Durban in 2005 it is the now the largest movement of its kind to have emerged in the post-apartheid era, with 10s of 1000s of members.

Living in self-built homes with self-organised plumbing, electricity, childcare, sanitation and services, South African’s are regrouping to challenge racial and spacial inequality in new and imaginative ways. Thapelo will explain the conditions that created the movement and how they are successfully building communities and resisting evictions in the face of often brutal and violent reactions from the state.

Giving the eejits here ideas no doubt.

She was on most programs today spouting her lies, but she hasn't the nerve to go on Nialls program

You read his Twitter feed ?

Was beginning to doubt there was anyone in the Irish media free to question the sh**e we're fed - but good on him!

    Crackin' tune

But it's mad how things can go from one extreme to the other!

Although some might say nothing has changed

You know what else pisses me off, I haven’t heard one politician calling out the obvious bull**** lies that’s coming from this woman. I know generally politicians are cowards, but not one of them voicing concerns about this story.
One of these days the pay for everything class in this company are gonna wake up and start marching. We need a fresh political party that can break through this ultra left bull**** media.
I’m sick of paying for these parasites high life.

Is it time for a national housing scheme and take it away from each local authority? This family is getting roughly the following

    980 childrens allowance
    900 dole (mother)
900 dole (father) / lone parents allowance
    1000 hap

    Free medical card, travel etc

Neither of the parents work so they don't have any particular need for accommodation in dublin. It would be much easier to source suitable accommodation down the country.

And surely it's time we put in place a maximum level of benefits. How or why would these people ever bother to seek to better themselves through education or gain employment with the levels of support we as taxpayers offer them.

The UK have a cap of 26,000GBP a year and a cap on two kids.

No reason why we can't follow suit.

The national water body didn't go down too well.

Of course no one in the media has mentioned the elephant in the room that the pressure on housing in this country has greatly increased with the large number of migrants that have arrived in the country. No to mention that Leo wants to take in more....

“I took the view that we needed to have a degree of burden sharing and the transfer of migrants," said Mr Varadkar.

Ireland reiterated a previous decision to take 4000 migrants from Italy and Greece.

“First of all this is an EU problem and one that we need to work together on”, he said"

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/we-all-need-to-share-the-burden-of-migration-leo-varadkar-37063477.html

Where does he propose to house the 4000 which will only increase over time as they will be entitled to bring their extended family also.

And they house all then immediately do you not think there would be another 10,000 along the next day looking for a free house??

Hello?? Wake up and kop on ffs, these people are scamming and the message needs to be sent that it won’t work.

Not encouraging them to go homeless.

Some people are brain dead I swear to god.

Reel in the personal insults ffs. I'm far from brain dead thanks very much.

    Who are 'these people'?

People always talk about the 1950s and the social housing built then. This time it seems to just be to shove people in hotels and hope they keep quiet. It's not a solution to the homeless problem.

Probably been linked a lot already but for those who haven't seen it just Google

A woman who was found in a drunken state in a car full of property that had been stolen during the course of a burglary in Enniscorthy appeared before the court last week charged with handling stolen goods. Margaret Cash (27) of ----, Dublin, was present in court and plead guilty to the charge, dating from October 5, 2013.

The newspapers should apologize to the government and eoin Murphy for the false accusations and insults they have printed.

Ireland is getting a bad rep worldwide because of this false story.

Shame on the media and ms cash for dragging this countries reputation through the mud with something all based on lies.

Gets EVERYTHING for free from our taxes and still whines. Entitled wagon.

No, it's going to people like her.

Like the fact that that one household is getting the guts of 40,000 a year just in money - the associated freebies are added on.

Well thanks, for the reasonable reply.

Are all the people in hotels and b and bs like her though? That's my point. Thought if there are people getting €40k with contributing a penny, it's no wonder there's no money left.

Agreed, and yes I'd say more are than are not.

I'd doubt the 20bn Euro welfare bill is entirely accurate to be honest, seems higher.

I just hope people will think before posting pictures of children sleeping in Garda stations in the future.

That way we can all pretend this isn't happening. Having to trawl through peoples social media, desperately trying to dig up dirt and deflect from the issues, can be very tiring for some people.

I often wonder if there was ever a study done linking low IQ and a lack of education to the high levels of gullibility ?

For example - if you're thick as pig poo would you clock an actor from Fair City because you thought he and his character were the same ?

Would you perhaps buy any old s***e from all manner of chancers on the internet ?

I would be concerned that several posters on here believing Ms Cash are at risk of Nigerian princes and fake Lotto scams!

I work in emergency accommodation. About 60% of the people there are working but are in low paid jobs. A few are lone parents. Some are entitled and expect a house but I've never seen anyone like this woman.

I'm loathe to give this waster kudos but this here says that before the burglary she only had a handful of driving offences.

That worked out so well with Irish water. Do we really need to go down that road again?

Those migrants are needed to do the jobs that the lifetime welfare scrounges won’t do.

    Only ?

Suuuuure let's give her a Legion of Mary Good Conduct Medal for managing to refrain from more serious crimes till at least her late 20s.

Can that be the same one though given shes apparently 28 and the Margaret Cash in that report was 27 five years ago?
