I asked this over on Dashcamtalk recently but go no reply.
So a copy and paste to here, if anyone can offer advice it would be much appreciated

"I have had the 0803 cam since they came on the market and it really gave me little or no issues ( Just initial setup and best firmware ) Since then it worked superb.
Recently ( over the past few months ) I would notice it would be after switching off without me noticing. I would press the power button and all seemed to be good again.
But over the past few weeks I am paying careful attention to it and notice it only stays powered on for a few minuted and then power itself down, Press power button and the same thing happens/
Should I assume it is time to replace it?
I have checked power supply etc and all is as it should be.

    Thanks for any advice."

Thats like it cant hold the charge like the battery is going or gone. Might be time to get another one. Wait & see what others think.

I'm concerned that if a thief sees the dash cam he may think it's worth smashing the windows to steal it so was wondering if there was a dash cam that had a small wire with a camera that wouldn't be obvious while the body of the camera can be hidden out of sight?

It would be a good alternative to a camera you have to take out of the glove box and attach each time you get in the car.

My mini started failing intermittently - turns out it was missing footage - which seemed to be power related as it would occasionally not start up. Was about 18 months old. As Halfords had a trade-in offer we just replaced both of them with Nextbase 312s.

Pity because I prefer the discrete size of the minis.

    Bought this B1W

Got a good review and apparently is very discreet as well.
    Will post back with results.
    Thanks

Any recommendations for brands of dashcam? Something easy to install and good quality and reliable. I won't be hardwiring it into the electrics. Also I'm not sure about suction cup mounts. I had one before for a satnav and it often just fell off the window.

I'd also probably need something to hold the wire against the window frame etc.

I’ve purchased a new car and I want to have front and rear dashcams fitted. I would be grateful for any recommendations (models & suppliers). I’m prepared to spend up to €700. Thanks.

blackvue are the only job I'd say, one of the few that don't come with a big screen making them attractive to thieves. Really nice install and great picture quality.

Aukey front and rear cam from Amazon.

Have mine a couple of months now, virtually invisible and great quality footage.

I'd avoid NextBase at all costs if you have the money. While the picture quality is decent on their higher end cameras the reliability and build quality is poor. The picture quality on my 402G is decent but it has frequent 'no SD card' errors that needs a restart and sometimes doesn't save the last clip which could be a good 5 minutes.

I've heard good things about BlackVue alright.

My 512GW is the opposite. Faultless reliability (touch wood) but the picture is muck.

The Mondello vid looks class. Any idea what caused you to spin? (calling Lightning!)

Pretty sure it's when I clutched out the drop in speed as I turned in, first time ever driving something like that so was pretty awesome! Gearing is a bit funky in them so it was hard to shift down in time.

My Mini 0806 is doing the same. I badly need to replace this.

I found it to be good & that could be faulty sd card as well.I found Scan disk sc cards to be ****e. Always seems to be failing or causing the unit to not record stuff, while another brand would record it no bother. Samsung i had in mine no bother with it.

Having just passed my test and driving in my own car, I have bought the recommended Yi Dashcam. Has anyone hard wired this dashcam or is it worth doing at all?

I did one the other day in the wifes car. I'd much rather have the cables hidden than just have it coming up from the fag lighter.

Do I need to purchase a hardwire kit? Id definitely rather have it hardwired and keep the cig lighter free, Ive no clue how to install so probably bring it to halfords if they would do a Yi?

I bought these below and did it that way. The double USB thing is so I could do a cable for charging the phone too. Ran it from the fuse box behind the glove compartment, across behind the centre console, and up behind the steering wheel and mounted the 12V socket with the double USB in a space on the RHS of the dash. Then the cable to the camera up the A pillar rubber and across over the roof lining.

Just has to be the right physical fuse size to suit the car and I taped the USB charger into the 12V socket so it wouldn't bounce out.

    This arrived today,
Removed the 0803 complete with wiring and fitted this one, Literally 15 minute job.
This one is so so discreet, no Screen only a very tiny green flashing led that you wouldnt even notice.
    Happy so far.

Has it a good WIFI range vectra? I have the YI and would prefer if I could get longer WiFi coverage.( see driveway from couch).

That's not something I checked as I have mine hardwired through the ignition.
I might be able to check that for you tomorrow.
