I won't hear a bad word said against Murray :D.. "spin there and that's frentzen, Heinz Harald Frentzen" "it's villeneuve Murray" "Villeneuve, this is fantastic"
On hill winning the 1996 WDC - "And I have to stop, because I've got a lump in my throat"

I do despise the fake laddish commentary brought by Croft. He's made a lot of mistakes recently you can see he's actually above his depth. I like the Notebook, like Brundle despite his bias, but there is a special place in hell for "crofty" and simon lazenby

On the RTÉ commentary, his mispronouncing of names were worth watching for by themselves. Ah the good old days, when the races were on RTE and Eurosport/other commercial channel, where you had to hope the ad breaks on the two didnt sync up!

And barrickello vs barrichello vs barriCHELLo.
    God that was shocking.
And the propensity to call the monaco GP the Monte Carlo GP.

I'm not that bothered about pronunciation of names or places. We all mispronounce names, in the world cup for example all commentators or pundits butchered at least some if not all surnames of Croatian team. Once you have slightly unusual name you can live in permanent rage if you are bothered by mispronunciation. it's just one of those things and as long as I know who they are talking about I'm ok with it.

He was the one constantly banging on about him not being deserving to be a World Champion, albeit in a more lampshaded way. Nico himself jokingly points it out sometimes when he does Sky coverage (I've just found out he works often with Sky Italy, I wonder why...).

As surprising as he sounds, Crofty kept more neutral on the whole thing. He just loves to make noise, and his constant mention of pointless statistics about Hamilton is indeed grating.

Brundle started well with Walker, but he kinda got annoying in later years - his bias is extremely clear and I guess it can indeed be said he was "dragged in" by Crofty's Daily Mail style commentary.

My favourite "Brundlism" remains the claim that mirrors are "as useful as ashtrays", despite overwhelming evidence available now that they aren't - search any of those in-helmet cam clips and take a look :)

I disagree about Brundle, find him to be the most reasonable of the Sky team followed by Paul DiResta. Croft & Kravitz make it feel cheap and tabloidy and like the Lewis show. Brundle is usually the one reigning in Croft's wild logic stretches.

To be fair to brindle re the mirrors, it's many years since he originally made that comment. I'd well believe that the mirrors installed to machinery 30 years ago were very poor indeed. You can be sure that whatever the mirror was mounted on vibrated to the point that you couldn't see in it.
It would be interesting to hear his opinion on modern day mirror seeing as he gets to drive a lot of current stuff for sky.
Clearly the way verstappen moves around in braking zones, he can certainly see exactly what the car behind is doing.

Also who were the commentary team that completely missed the jules bianchi accident and still hadn't become aware of it after the race? There is missing stuff on track and then there is missing something like that.

Ah, so they're having a meeting to discuss changes to mirror regulations because they can see too much then? :P

Different story - they say the view has become blocked because of the shapes F1 cars have evolved into; It makes sense, with the head protection, wider rear wing etc.

Brundle has always claimed mirrors are "useless" and that literally nothing can be seen through them - vibration, blurriness and size being mentioned.

Which is balderdash - clearly drivers defend, so they can see where their opponents are.

    Most importantly:

Sure, they're not the mirrors on an Iveco semi, but they do seem quite up to the task to me...

The best word to describe Croft is "jocular". He always sounds like he has a smile on his face when he's taking, and his delivery style is very dynamic in terms of the metre of his voice of going up and going down and going up and going down. Too much so. He sounds like he's doing the bingo.

I think he'd be ok if he just spoke "normally" and not in commentator style, he does know a fair bit and keeps going even through the most boring of races. The best thing about the Walker / Brundle combo is that Walker was like the every man (a Ferrari goes out, we all think "is that Schumacher????" - Walker says it out loud) and Brundle is the expert there to correct him. I don't think there should be two experts necessarily, nor sure the every man be an ignoramus. There's a happy medium, which they've yet to find.

Brundle / Coulthard came close, but I don't think Brundle should be lead commentator, his style is the expert pundit, there to step in with the experience and analysis (and corrections).

I haven't heard Ben Edwards commentate. When Croft started he was a huge improvement over Leggard. Allen I found to be too OTT, it'd be like making Ted Kravitz the lead commentator. I've no main issue with Kravtiz, I liked the notebook (when it had the more quaint ink drawn opening credits) and he's ok as a pitlane reporting.

The issue I have now is with Liberty's vein attempts at injecting drama where there clearly isn't any, or needs to be. Like the music that's constantly playing, I feel like I'm on a load screen on an Xbox game. And the "turn the volume up" lap. That needs to stop.

I also think there's almost too much data on the screen. The simpler graphics of the 90s almost gave you everything you needed, like this:

Nah, I don't mind most of the Sky crew. Croft would be probably tolerable if there was no British (English) driver competing for top spots.

Apparently...TR want a form of compensation, money or drivers. Weren't they after Norris earlier this year?

Man, just stop, you're embarrassing yourself at this stage. Vettel, Ricciardo, Max, Fernando, and Lewis, all have that tiny little bit extra that makes them a bit special. End of.
    .

You forgot to include Kimi in that list.
After all he has something the Dani and Max have yet to achieve. Yes, a wdc.

Your second point about Kimi following the RB, thats the exact same as to what was happening to Vettel at the weekend following Kimi. Cars with the most amount of DF will disturb more air, thus making it harder for cars to follow.

And that is where you are either wrong or are misinformed.

My start was not perfect; in turn 3 I locked the inside wheel, lost a bit of grip and couldn’t slow down as much as I wanted. So I ended up touching Lewis’s rear wheel and unfortunately he span. I had to serve a ten seconds penalty and after that my race was a bit messy. Overtaking was difficult, and I fought against the Red Bulls for many laps. When I was on my own the speed was ok, but once I was behind them, their wake seemed to affect my car a lot more than the Mercedes did; I was losing a lot of downforce and that upset the balance of the car. We were quite a bit faster, but it was really tricky for us to follow them. It was a close fight for quite a lot of times, at the beginning and at the end of the race. Finally we managed to pass them and then I overtook one of the Mercedes. It was not an easy day, but I gave my best and made a decent comeback.

Very interesting listen. His family practically became travelers in order to let him compete in motorsports.
    Also available on podcast feeds.

    This too shall pass.

Anyone thinking there could be a driver change at Haas next season?
I don't think those two are doing anything for the teams potential.

Grosjean is on borrowed time but they will keep KMag, he's been decent enough and will give them a barometer to whomever comes in.

How am I wrong? You just made my point for me! The top 3 cars on the grid create serious wake behind them which causes the following cars to lose grip which will then toast their tires.

Which is EXACTLY what was happening to Vettel in Germany.

Much the same as Renault were earlier in the season.

This Ferrari concept still wouldn't explain the upturn in form, they only tested the exhaust layout in Germany, it wasn't run on the Saturday or Sunday.

You did say it would be the same as driving behind any car that has high downforce.??
