Still a couple of years too late, sadly. The damage has been done and just got worse.

Is this 'the rah fupped up' story?

No. It's the- he wasn't worth the ransom story because he had retired and none of his offspring were amounting to anything so the ransom wasn't paid and the horse was killed.

James and Natasha Bedingfield. They were everywhere about ten years ago, then poof! Same for David Grey.

Does Syd Barrett count? He turned up out of the blue a few years after his initial disappearance, walking in on one of Pink Floyd's recording sessions ("Shine On", appropriately enough) and then dropped into the void again (well, Cambridge).

Richey Edwards from the Manics, although that was obviously entirely his choice. If he is alive (unlikely), he clearly has no wish to be found.
    Daniel Bedingfield?

Given that only one foal had been born (never mind raced) when he was stolen that seems an unlikely story, you might want to check your sources.

That's the one, not "James". So obscure now I've even forgotten his name.

Russ Abbott. He was huge for a while in the late 80s, even had a good sized hit single called "Atmosphere" then he vanished for years - turned out he was on stage!

Not a massive role, not obscure either. But, she features quite a bit in the Marvel TV series such as Jessica Jones.

    Emilio Estevez

Think his bicycle was stolen in Dublin today.

Did anyone listen to Mr Hudson or Daniel Merriweather back in the day? How about Sam Sparro or, as Daniel is now calling him, "Samual"?

You might be thinking of James Blunt. He was popular at the same time. "You're beautiful"

    Or James Morrison?
"You can't play on broken strings... you can't heeear anythiiiiing..." Part of the song sounded a bit like "Secret Smile" by Semisonic.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

    New stuff from Taio Cruz

Not had a hit in the UK in nearly six years according to officialcharts.com. Of all the late 00s/early 10s music stars who emerged around that time and then evaporated into obscurity, Taio has to be the big stand out - hit after hit, and then nothing.

    Anyone remember Jay Sean?

Pretty big both sides of the Atlantic, then vanished into thin air. Good singer though.

Edit: Apparently he and Sean Paul had a #49 hit only in 2016, but Jay's last top 40 was "2012 (It Ain't the End)" in 2010.

Jennifer Grey was very successful in the 80s, starred in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Dirty Dancing then seemed to disappear.

She had a massive schnozzle so decided to get a nose job. It was something of a disaster so she required a second operation

The results were better but she now looked so much unlike her natural self that even friends failed to recognise her.

As a result film producers wouldn't cast someone the audience wouldn't recognise in a significant role.

Apparently, in her own words, "I went in the operating room a celebrity and came out anonymous".

My mistake, sorry, I meant Daniel Beddingfield. I would agree with James Blunt, but he has a hilarious twitter presence which in itself is worthy of note. Therefore, I don't think he counts as having vanished altogether.

D.B definitely has, though. Haven't heard a peep out of him in yunks.

Yes. His one hit was huge, being played everywhere at all times, on every single station on rotation. Then ... nothing (thank fvck).
