huge game today , lose here and we could be heading for an early exit , the one worry i have today is the team is unchanged , pat o'connor and malone starting again is an insult to guys on the bench trying to fight for a place in the team ,

lets hope for no more rush of blood to the heads on the sideline when making decisions today also ,

It's harder to get off that team than it is to get on it, once you were a good under 21 5 years ago you can be almost guaranteed a spot.

Much better performance workrate wise lets hope we can build on it , conlon as a full forward is a. Colossis , Duggan much better today too interchanging possitions suited him ,

That's good to hear, I have been wondering is Duggan perhaps too big for full forward and would he be more effective further out.

Congrats on the win today lads. Clare absolutely best team on the day and beat us in every single position. Injuries tough on us but not the reason for the defeat, best team won.

Clare at +8 looks the bet of the weekend for me, I'm not saying they'll win but I've a feeling they'll put up a decent show

I actually did a €20 @9/1. Just in case! Our full back line will have their hands full. But, it should be a good day out anyway.

Exactly. If the full back line can come out on top here or even break even, Clare can win this. Should 'lord it' at midfield especially with Brennan, best midfielder in the game IMO

Also need a good ref. Kerry usually get every decision in Killarney.

That draw hasn't done any favours, assuming that Waterford lose all their games that'll leave Cork on 6 point total, Limerick on 5 and Tipp on 3 with Clare on 2, by my reckoning we'll have to beat Tipp to make the playoffs in third and win both matches to reach the Munster final, in fact if Tipp beat us we could be going into the last game with nothing to play for.

We really need Waterford to take something off either Tipp or Limerick or beat Cork for us.

How are you working that out?

Cork are on 4 points after a win and 2 draws, add 2 points for beating Waterford and that'd 6 points.
Limerick are on 3 points after a win & a draw, add 2 points for beating Waterford and that's 5 points.
Tipp are on 1 point after a loss and a draw, add 2 points for beating Waterford that's 3 points.
Clare are on 2 points after a win and a loss.

Oh right, I misunderstood your post above. Yeah we definitely need to beat Tipp, hopefully the rest will stand to us next weekend. Having said that, it's hard to see Waterford losing all 4 matches even with their injuries. If they could take points off Limerick or Tipp tomorrow it would do us a big favour.

Waterford are crippled with injuries and don't have any "real" home games, going to Limerick is an awful trek for them tomorrow. If they can get something off Limerick then it's a shoot out between Limerick and Clare for 3rd place. Crazily 5 points could be needed to get out of Munster this year which means teams will have only lost 1 game.

The new structure really seems to have reignited the Munster championship. It's coming to the stage our Hurlers have to show some bottle, look at the fight limerick have had in them all year. If we don't show that and beat tipp we deserve to be out. I'd have a lot more faith in our footballers to close out and win a tight game than our Hurlers.

Agreed, at the start of the championship I was struggling to see where we'd win a match, if we could combine the drive of the footballers with the skill of the hurlers we'd be guaranteed champions.

starting with football , tomorrow will be really tough , i think a few people in the local media are getting carried away with themselves , we have a serious team and a young team at that but there are hardly 5 counties in the country that could beat kerry on a good day , on league form we are the 2nd best team in munster at the moment but given the age profile of our lads and the venue we probably are up against it too much , i expect us to go well in the qualifiers though and be there abouts next month for round 4 and beyond but kerry are dublins level and at home they are almost impossible to beat

my hope travailing to kilarney tomorrow is we put up a big score and play as well as we did last year in ennis ,if we do it should be a cracker again

as for the hurling , lads come on , we were excellent last week against waterford , we dont or wont know how good or bad that result is until at least tomorrow , we were better then limerick the last time we played them in the league before losing on 65s , we beat tipperary the last time we met them and we probably are going better then them at the moment , we have every chance of making the munster final in my opinion i was impressed with the improvement last week regardless of waterfords bad luck with injuries , tommey ryan , stephen bennet and the under rated dj foran were 3 of the subs brought on by waterford last week , a far stronger panel then what we have dont rule them out just yet

i think its excellent but i dont agree with only 3 teams going through to the next round i think the 4th placed teams should playoff against each other for a qualifier spot with the 5th placed teams in both groups in relegation playoffs

You will wind up with dead rubber matches.4th and 5th placed teams will do nothing in their last round of matches knowing there is a knockout ahead. We may wind up with something similar if Waterfords next match goes badly.

I think we are making us out to be better on the game the last day, not only were Waterford missing a load of players they were missing key players, injuries at key times meant they were in disarray.

Of our remaining games, Tipp were poor for a game and a half so far, I fear they are coming good and could give us a bit of a trimming, but we could also blow them out of the water as well.

The Limerick game, as with all games between us for the past few years could go either way, I've been very impressed with Limerick so far, they seem to be playing as a unit and never give up, they could have easily thrown in the towel yesterday when they went a man down but they didn't.

I'm very pessimistic (or is it realistic??) so apologies for raining on any optimism.

I fear Tipp will continue where they left off in 2nd half against Cork. We'll revert to shooting from everywhere, irrespective of our wides tally.

In the football, think Kerry are aiming to prove they're on Dublin's level and while they often take time to ramp up in the championship, I'm not sure we truly believe we could beat them and might take our beating and save ourselves for the qualifiers.

Hope I'm posting later saying "I got that wrong"

Top 2 go into the Munster final, the winner don't play until the end of July and the losers play the winners of the play offs. Third play the Joe McDonagh Winners or Runners Up, the winners of which play the runners up. In a strange way third place could be the best place.

We'll find out a lot about Tipp today against Waterford, they could put a big score up today, ideally we need Tipp to lose 1 of their remaining games (against us or Waterford) but I can't see that happening

N23 outside Castleisland is closed meaning detour. Could affect those getting to Killarney.

Yeah that is the fear , I reckon the bottom teams should play off against each other to get back in rather than introducing the joe McDonough teams

I hope your wrong but realistically tipp have massively under preformed so far , the two McGraths and Jason forde aside they look a shadow of previous years ,

So Waterford have done us a huge favour, I'm not sure if a win for them would have been better than a draw but looking at the table

Tipp are on 2 point after a loss and 2 draws, maximum points they can get is 4 if they beat us.
Clare are on 2 points after a win and a loss.

Looking at the options for the next games, if Clare beat Tipp that's us on 4 points and clear of them going into the final round, a draw would put us level on points but with a 10 points (+4 vs -6) scoring difference so baring a trimming by Limerick we'll be at least 4th in the group.

Looking at scoring differences, Clare are +4 and Tipp at -6, by my reckoning a 5 point win for Tipp will leave them and us on -1 but we'll have another game that we'll have to win so any win against Limerick would be good enough to put us ahead of Tipp, if Limerick beat Waterford then us beating Limerick will mean we're ahead of Waterford, if Waterford beat Limerick us beating Limerick would put us ahead of Limerick SO by my reckoning:
Clare lose to Tipp by 5 points or less and beat Limerick - Clare through to next stages
Clare draw to Tipp and Limerick, Waterford's results will depend on where we finish.
Clare beat Tipp and lose to Limerick, Waterfords result to Cork will determine where we finish.
Clare beat Tipp and draw to Limerick, Clare through to next round.
Clare beat Tipp and Limerick, Clare through to Munster final

simply put, if tipp beat clare and waterford lose one of their remaining games its tipp on third as  even if clare beat limerick both teams will have 4 points and tipp will go through on head to head, points difference only comes into it if 3 teams finish level on points.
