Folks, can anyone recommend a chrome cast that they're using?
    Cheers.

We use a Roku. It's deadly. Small little thing that my young fella got a couple of months ago for about 35 euro. Can cast my a1 to it no problem and it also has Netflix plus another few apps on it including YouTube.

probably an obvious answer to this...why has this device got xioami camera app on it and not google camera app...seeing as its an android one device.

Anyone noticing a drop in network using the Xiaomi Mi A1?

I'm not sure if this is just an Android one thing or not but I have to restart my phone to get it to work, or on occasions turning on airplane mode then off again results in the network coverage coming back.

It has two back cameras and needs custom software to use them.

Wife dropped her month old Mi A1 and cracked the screen. Saw some videos on YouTube about changing display, looks more complicated than other phones that I have looked at (nexus 5 etc).

Has anyone here attempted a screen replacement? Would like to hear how it went. Thanks.

Ah lads, please tell me there is a fix for this..

Just got the phone, looks excellent. I made my first phone call on it, the person on the other end said they could hear an echo of their voice. Reading up on it, seems to be a common issue...is there any way to stop this, would be a shame to not be able to use it..

I have the same issue with call quality (and in general call quality is quite poor). Hope there is a fix

I had this initially when I bought redmi note 2 in 2015, can't remember how I solved the problem, but not an issue anymore, I remember the call quality was dreadful, have just received mi a1 but waiting for cover and screen protector before I transfer to it.

If you do remember could you please post?

    Thanks

one i got for her indoors came this morning.
yea...its ok...but i have a samsung s8+ with a super amoled screen so IPS looks a bit cheaply automatically to me.
saying that. screen is bright and volume is good.
two major updates over a gig each but was then on oreo without issue.
connected to my laptop fine and transfered data from her old bust up samsung s5 fine.
camera is ok...no better or even maybe not as good as her old s5..but that was a premium phone in its time with the camera being a highlight.....saying that the potrait mode works great in right light.....i keep reading about porting the google camera app to it...i did that on my s8+ to get portrait mode and it worked but it sounds a messier process on the mi a1.
be interesting to see how battery is on it now seeing as its so stock android.
no fm radio..although i read theres some messy way to activate it...we live in the sticks and coverage patchy for tunein app and the like.
i'll have to see how she likes google photos app as the default photo viewer and play music as default music player before i look for alternatives.
anyway...in the couple of hours i had it to hand, no complaints..just initial observations.

oh yes. one other thing. i got tempered glass for it...and its got a huge halo effect...like it doesnt sit on the glass at all near the edges...i also thought, maybe just me, but it felt like the screen sensitivity was a lot poorer to taps and swipes with it on.
been so many cracked screens in the house over the years with phones, and so many phone and tablet screens saved by having tempered glass on, that its the first thing we add to a new device.

My old redmi note 3 was like that, bro complaining ref noise etc,in the end I took off the phone cover,USD a kiddies toothbrush to work in around the Mike etc,bit of blowing and light tapping,no more interference/noise

I don't think the echo issue is purely a Xiaomi problem. I've had that on a Galaxy S5 as well from time to time, then it just goes away again.

I bought the mi a1 a few days ago. Its a cheap alternative to a Pixel device, however Android one devices are not updated directly by Google. Xiaomi are the ones updating the software with an agreement with Google that they will update the phone fast. This is why the custom camera app and mi services are included on the phone.

Where's best to get this at the moment? Don't mind waiting a few weeks if there is significant saving to be made. I see it is about 230euro on amazon.co.uk, 200 on amazon.de and 170 on eglobalcentral.eu

Bought the 32gb one from Geekmaxi for the GF. 149e delivered in 3 days from Germany (or possibly Poland actually).

Really great phone for the money.

64gb will come in about 25 or 30 euro more.

Any recommendations for a decent shock proof case? I bought a clear cover for mine but it's really too thin and has little to no lip to protect the screen. Waste of money but at €5 I'm not bothered to return it back to the UK. I'll keep it as a backup.

Just ordered one of these phones today, looking forward to getting it!! I'd also be interested to hear any recommendations for a good shock proof case if anyone has any?!

Got one from eglobalcentral a few weeks ago. Took about ten days. Tracking said it shipped from Heathrow so no tax/duty. Lots of discount codes available for Eglobal.

Has anyone upgraded from a smart ultra 6 to the Mi A1? I found the camera really poor on the smart ultra 6 and I'm wondering if the A1 will be much of an improvement?

If you read back the thread, reports are mixed, but there is a method of putting the stock Google camera app on it which apparently improves it..

Edit: on phone so can't properly link, but see below:

if you want to upgrade the camera to googles gcam
