It's just Ric's way of saying "Happy Birthday, Roman"

I'm sure Vince does that for all the superstars.

Yeah it doesn't exactly go with the whole management conspiracy. Yet this will be one of the times that they will ignore what their talent/employees are posting on social media

It’s a bloody ridiculous storyline anyway the sooner they dump it the better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,349 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Having your intelligence insulted is kind of an entry point into being a wrestling fan but this "Roman being kept down by the man" storyline takes it to new levels.

How do we believe someone who has main-evented 4 Wrestlemania's in a row and is being given title shot after title shot is disliked by the higher-ups?

I'm gonna stop following the wrestling threads here. They are too negative. Someone who didn't watch WWE programming reading these threads would think nothing good or entertaining ever happens on their shows/PPV's. WWE have never had a roster so deep with so many amazing performers, we get to see them every week across 4 different shows. And now with the Network we are absolutley spoiled for choice. Most of their storylines are nonsense but so what? Storylines lead to wrestling matches and they are why we watch. Don't like Roman Reigns headlining Wrestlemania? Don't watch that match! Why get upset about it? It's oiled up men & women pretending to hit each other, don't get so worked up about it. Watch ROH, ICW, NJPW etc... instead. Be happy with the thing you love, don't become a cynic.

Well its just people venting about how bad the product is at the moment.

The biggest problem is that WWE stopped listening to its fans and just pumps the same stuff out over and over.

Look at Rusev day. A gimmick that he got over on his own and its not really pushed. I mean pushed as much as Roman is. Roman is the top babyface and gets booed out of the building. WWE continues to say he is the big dog and love him or hate him he keeps coming back. Hard to get enthusiastic about that.

There are a few bright sparks. Elias cracks me up and is the best thing about Raw. Getting everyone to sing they love him but then reminding them that he hates them was hilarious!

The 2 main events of Raw and Smackdown were great matches but zero buildups. Balor/Strowman and Bryan/Hardy. 2 matches that could be on ppvs but just happened. No buildup or fallout from them. Great matches to watch though.

Giving away matches like that/using the same match repeatedly for guys either not feuding or in a crap feud has been a problem for years. It's probably the most maddening thing about the E to me.

I can live with Roman as the big dawg, but making everything meaningless is a disgrace to me.

I wouldn't call most of them too negative, it's on par for most discussion forums online really and really nowhere near as toxic, and it's on par for boards as well look at things like The Late Late Show thread, full of people talking about how crap it is but watching every week

We all just want to see better, I remember there being universal love for events like MITB 2011 and rightly so

The roster is as good as it's ever been but it's undeniable that a lot of the roster are being held back in terms of what they can do in the ring, wwe matches are usually very formulaic and can be a chore to watch at times when there's nothing tangible on the line

Today is Memorial Day in the USA so expect the usual overly patriotic opening video to start raw tonight. I think it's a Ronald Reagan speech that they've gotten the superstars to recite.

Was reading that Smackdown might beat Raw in the ratings because it's Memorial Day and there's a huge game 7 in the NBA and the Stanley Cup final is on.

I figured it out. Vince wishing Roman is him mocking Roman, calling him "The Big Dog" in a totally insincere and mocking way. Right?

    Monster in the Bank

Now there's a line directly from Vince himself

    Finn slapping Braun wtf ??

The MITB match is actually hard enough to call, all participants have potential to the awesome holders

Ah, so they kept Roman off so Vince can blame that instead.

Hey everyone, remember last month when Bliss said Nia was a bully and everyone backed Nia. Yeah, guess everyone was wrong.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,657 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Nia is now a heel? Um...ok.

makes no difference I suppose. she is of absolutely no value to the show anyway.

they're still destroying Braun. he has just about enough charisma to carry off some of the dialogue, but my God it's shít.

May really is always the sh1ttest month for wrestling isn't it

It 100% will never happen but imagine the wonders an off season after Mania would do for the entire business, we never get a chance to miss wrestling

And it would give the wrestlers a chance to recover. But as long as the money is coming in that will never happen. Plus the tv companies love that its 52 weeks a year, saves them having to schedule a replacement show.

It's one of these things that makes money in the short term but long term would lead to less fan fatigue and less people becoming disenfranchised with the product, as well as the benefits to the wrestlers. While in WWE and active they probably never get much more than 3 days at a home at once most of the year

As we've seen with 3 hour Raws less isn't always more

There are tons of ways they can get around the issue. Fill 6-8 weeks with NXT Takeover Raw and 205 Live Takeover Smackdown, throw in a Tough Enough style tournament for a contract with each and pad it out a bit with Vault stuff from the previous year.

As well as giving everyone (talent & fans) a break it would help getting exposure to up & coming talent and less seen shows.

Come back at the start of June / end of May with Money In the Bank qualifying and cut out a ton of BS

I feel like there's a myriad of reasons why this doesn't happen, one of which being that the wrestlers themselves wouldn't accept it. I've never really thought about it before but outside of a few wrestlers like Kevin Nash, wrestlers are totally indoctrinated into this idea of being a road dog, giving their all for the fans. Whenever they're off with an injury, all they want to do is come back. Wrestling through injury is a point of pride for these guys. I suppose it's even easier to get into this mode of thought when your boss is a septugenarian veritable android who survives on 3 or 4 hours sleep a day and knows nothing but work, work, work.

Nia actually cut a pretty decent be a star promo only a couple of weeks ago which makes this even more hilarious.

She won't tap to the armbar either because Ronda won't be able to put it on...

Was a terrible promo, in my opinion. Crowd turned against her in the middle of it if I remember right.

What's with KO losing to every top babyface on Raw since he moved? He'll probably win MITB now.

Think this was the first Raw in forever where I scrolled on all the clips on YouTube and said to myself "nah, not arsed even watching 3 minutes of that."

I feel increasingly weird that it's wrestling outside of WWE that I'm more interested in, as traditionally I was never interested in anything outside of the E.
