Just watched Cargo there. Forget the other review, this Is great. There are very few characters in this film but you really feel something about every one of them.

No crazy 'ah here' moments. One of the best Apocalypse movies I've seen in ages

Feck, haven't seen John Wick or World War Z yet. I was looking forward to John Wick.

I watched I Saw The Light recently. A biopic of Hank Williams starring Tom Hiddlestone and Elizabeth Olsen. I thought it was good, especially if you have an interest in Hank. Good performances by the two leads.

For those who don’t venture outside this thread much, we’re having a little trial run where we try to get a group watch of a film going and have a chat about it. We’re sticking with Netflix titles for the time being just to see how it works, and our first film is Good Time.

Thread here if you’re interested in taking part :)https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=107049212

You're better off not having seen World War Z. It's a criminal waste of the copyright to amazing source material.

That book was fantastic read, it would probably have worked better as a big budget HBO style series IMO.

Barack and Michelle Obama Sign Massive Production Deal With Netflix
It’s official: Barack and Michelle Obama are moving from the White House to Netflix.

The former President and First Lady have signed a multi-year production deal with the streaming giant — a deal that was rumored months ago, but officially announced today via a Netflix press release. The Obamas “will produce a diverse mix of content, including the potential for scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries and features,” according to the release, through their newly formed production company Higher Ground Productions.

“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” President Obama said in a statement. “That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix — we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”

No details yet on any specific programs from the Obamas, but Barack already made his Netflix debut earlier this year, sitting down for an interview with David Letterman in the January premiere of Letterman’s new talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.

Still enjoying Border Town, 7 episodes in. Something a bit different and the subtitles keep you focused rather than browsing Facebook or even Boards on the phone.

Really good. Second series (not on Netflix) is even better although wasn't overly gone on the ending.

I found Cargo hugely underwhelming. Bog standard, run-of-the-mill type zombie/apocalyptic film that does nothing new and re-threads 'the old' in a totally unremarkable and familiar way.

Martin Freeman is very good in it though, and there's a slight take on the zombie angle that is never really explored/explained, but is quite visually compelling.

Overall, 5/10 would be about right. Not terrible, certainly watchable, but just far too familiar and completely forgettable.

Nicola Walker is normally a good indicator that a show is worth giving a go. Great actress, and seems to choose her roles well.

River another great series she's in on Netflix worth watching.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Yes! Really looking forward to watching Explained! I love Vox on YouTube, so I’d imagine this will be very well produced

that Steve Martin Short thing looks terrible. Best stick with Three Amigos (how come Chevy Chase wasn't invited for the special?)
