An absolute rag of a paper.

I'm sure that anyone who carries a gun as part of their job dreads the day that they have to use it. I hope that Garda is getting help too.

Not a hope this lad is responsible for the other missing women,he took too many risks here,he ain't a seasoned attacker imo.

If he abducted and (potentially) murdered (assumption based on no facts) someone, then went to attack a Garda, the shooting was 100% justified. I just feel sorry for his wife and kids. No matter what sort of a person someone is, a child never thinks that of them. For them, they have lost their father, and that's what's terrible for them. (Regardless of the person he may turn out to be).
These are really the most tragic of cases. Not only have these kids lost their Dad, they've also basically lost whatever memories they had of him. His actions mean that the person they remember clearly isn't the person they thought he was. He has stolen their ability to grieve for him.

Hopefully there's some good news for Jastine's family, otherwise this is just unimaginable tragedy all around.

    First responder.
Probably loads of reported sightings. They can't wait for back-up for them all.

We sometimes forget that the boys and girls who annoy us when they ticket us for doing 40 in a 30 are actually unarmed public servants who put themselves in harm's way when another human being is in danger. Time and again, they do heroic things that are then retrospectively judged as foolish. However, this beast had abducted a young woman and was cornered with every possibility that he still had her in the car and there was an immediate threat to her life as far as the Gardai were concerned.

That cop who tried to deal with him put him/her self in personal danger to rescue someone considered to be a hostage from a dangerous individual. All early reports last night suggested that the woman was in the car (erroneously as established later) so the Gardai on the ground couldn't wait for the ERU or whomever to arrive with their tasers etc, the traffic cop went in for the rescue and the armed Garda shot the perp as he attacked the unarmed colleague.

Now clearly that is all conjecture on my part, but is based on the few facts that have been made public, and shows a situation of fast acting professionalism and heroism in the face of extreme and urgent peril, rather than a situation of error-prone flat - footedness that some would prefer to paint as their conjecture.

Remember how the world reacted to the cop who waited outside the Marjorie Stoneham High School in Florida while the gunman was killing kids and teachers inside??

Its not the time to criticise but Id hope the operation will be given a proper reviewed when all this is over.

Nah, I'd say they'll just leave it.

He could be connected to the Killiney and Shankill attempted abductions. The man in question was described as early 30's(2 years ago) and slight build. Hennessy was bald but he has that early 30's look especially in the clear face picture that has been used.

Some amount of absolute knobs in here playing amateur detective. Linking him to other crimes from a name and Facebook photo. Give me a f*cking break.

Those people who approached him in Killiney were very lucky, at that stage he must have known his game was up. Could have ended badly. Thank god we don't have easy access to guns!

Who gives a ****, he's a piece of **** and if I want to link him to other similar incidents I will. I'm not saying I'm right but it's an internet message board, not Scotland Yard.

I kinda feel bad because I was convinced it was a guy on FB, I'm sure he got a lot of messages because of people like me trying to find out more about him. That's really dangerous when you think about it.

What were you hoping to achieve by doing this? It's absolutely baffling.

Both Shankill and Killiney, but they were groping assaults.

Lucky? They sound like idiots. Now we have to consider if they had just called the Gardaí could he have been followed to her location?

How did an unarmed traffic cop end up there? Surely they would be sending in trained armed gardai unit incase things turned ugly.

This is the part thats confusing for me. I habe read that someone callef in the sighting of the car in cherrywood - in which case it would be a first responder thing - however - other news outlets are claiming he was tracked to the business park by gardai, via his phone. In that case they should have been well backed up and prepared.

You would want to be fairly stupid to private message abuse to a dead man.

    Yes I do. Why wouldn't I ?

We have a corrupt Garda force with that corruption sanctioned and ordered from the very top down.

I find it confusing that normal tax paying, law abiding people wouldn't have an axe to grind.

A corrupt and dishonest force threatens the very core of our democracy.

I don't know what happened here last night. Maybe AGS acted appropriately, maybe they didn't.

All i'm saying is we'll never know the truth because it'll be covered up as has always been done in the past.

This seems to have ruffled a few feathers but hey ho.. Facts are facts.

Sorry, buddy. Opinions are not facts.

Don't think he'll be "checking in" wherever he has ended up..

Will, there are sad f*cks that would message his widow thinking they're great for doing so somehow. Never underestimate the power of idiocy combined with easily accessible social media platforms.

'Exposing' me as well is pretty dumb considering I pretty much put that post up to highlight the stupidity and dangers of doing exactly what I did. My point was that this is a message board, I'm putting no weight into my theories, I'm just shooting the breeze and running my mind, it's a discussion forum. If I was with my friends I might say 'Oh remember those incidents in Killiney and Shank, the guy was from Ballybrack, he looks kinda early 30's, not exactly far fetched to suggest he could have been involved' I obviously haven't a clue, he probably wasn't, it's just a discussion.
