Feck all in the house until I do a shop.

I had two slices of brown toast with two fried eggs on top. Very nice too.

at the weekend but was looking for a change, I made a porridge with Barley , you generally tend to cook it for an hour but you can use it for different things. Just added some frozen berries and cinnamon and a dash of cream, no need to add milk as the barley absorbs liquid when it cooks. Nice nutty taste to it and is more filling than porridge oats.

Snap but low fat milk. Don't mind either tbh.

I went for poached eggs this morning. They'd been cooked in vinegar and were inedible. Ended up having a scone instead.

Multigrain rolls from Tesco with rubbery Tesco Cheese and Rasberry jam - no butter - and a mug of Barry's tea with honey.

    Yummy-yummy.

Turkish eggs. I'm not a breakfast eater and tbh it was lunchtime when I had them, but oh my God, they were AMAZING.

    Recipe?

    Recipe?

I didn't bother faffing around with sieving the eggs, I've never had any issue poaching eggs without doing this.

Meant to say, credit to Georgina Toadbum who passed the recipe on to me to begin with.

I was in a restaurant so not sure but all I could taste was vinegar. It was disgusting tbh.

Just too much vinegar in the poaching water.
I like a hint of vinegar on my poached eggs.

Anybody have any good suggestions for a weekend breakfast/lunch that doesn't involve eggs?! I can't eat eggs, so feel I'm missing out on a huge food group at the weekends :( My defaults include beans on toast, toasted sandwich, soup or occasionally a fry (minus the egg). I've also done quesadillas the odd time.

I need some inspiration to shake things up though! Ideally something quick and easy to do, but tasty and not requiring eggs.

I've got the opposite problem. I've got gestational diabetes and can't tolerate more than 15g of carbohydrates in the morning which means eggs, eggs and more eggs. I'm sick to death of them!

    How about eggless pancakes? http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/fluffy-eggless-pancakes-250212

Delicious cereals like nut granola and cold milk? Fresh fruit salad and Greek yogurt? A croque monsieur? Avocado on sour dough? I'm drooling now.

The grass is always greener eh! (very apt username btw :P)

I might try the eggless pancakes, thanks for the suggestion :)
I eat cereal Mon-Fri already, so like a change at the weekend.
I don't tend to get too excited over fruit and salads though :/ Force myself to eat fruit at work during the week, but like to be naughty with food at the weekend!

    God I miss cereal.

I miss eggs so much. I developed an intolerance in my early/mid 20s. Luckily I can still eat it as a minor ingredient (e.g. in cakes), but I miss scrambled eggs so much...

Greek yoghurt, granola or raw porridge oats, chopped fruit, nuts, chocolate chips, honey. Coffee

    Chocolate brioche. Coffee.

Quark cheese, dab of vanilla essence, dab of lemon essence, tiny bit of honey. Tastes like a lemon cheese cake and lovely for brekkie when you want something a bit indulgent. I have it insteAd of the Greek yoghurt in the first brekkie I mentioned sometimes and if I'm a bit bold I like shortbread dipped into it or chocolate digestives.

Grilled tomatoes (watery red lumps....) avocado, 2x poached and grilled smoked bacon medallions.

Would have loved to have had it all on a some white toast with a rake of salty Kerry gold but trying to watch the calorie in take and I’m having a whopper dinner later.

Brown scone, real butter & strong pot of scald.

Always too lazy on a Saturday for a lazy brekkie:) so it's the same as I've been on all week: almond milk, protein powder porridge, nectarines, almonds and flax

Yesterday I took myself out for brekkie. I had two beautifully poached eggs on tomatoes spiced with "Moroccan inspired" flavour. Side of seeded sourdough made in the restaurant and an almond milk cappuccino. With my book, opposite a big window which was being lashed on. It was bliss.

Omlette filled with Mexican style beans, chopped scallions and grated mozzarella, piece of Mrs Dogs homemade brown bread on the side.

Out of shot is a cup of tea, made the way I like it, fairly strong with just a splash of milk.

Apologies for the photo, but I was half way through it before I could tear myself off it to take the pic. :o

I just tried an egg-free pancake recipe. It was an absolute disaster :(

No matter how much I cooked them on the outside, they were still partially raw on the inside (kind of a gluey texture). Two went straight in the bin and two were edible (but not enjoyable).

I've made regular pancakes (with egg) plenty of times and they always turn out wonderful! (I can only ever have one very small one though) Who would've thought egg was such a vital ingredient :(

    Egg is the glue :D

If you're talking about the recipes that use mashed banana instead, I'm not a fan of them at all.

I used to dislike them too. But the toddler asks for pancakes and they're handy to make so I kept making them. They either grew on me or I got better at making them because I love them now. Delicious with a touch of cocoa powder and vanilla extract with a cup of coffee.
