There's a word for that you know!

    Communism

Emmm no its not, its called democracy, we elect politicians to represent us and create laws and make decisions on our behalf.

What was described is nothing like communism, you really need to do some reading about political philosophies if your idea of what is and isnt communism is that far off

What was the explanation for suspending 18 months of it also? Don't even get me started on concurrent sentences. They should be done away with immediately. The very concept of them are ludicrous! Commit one serious crime, you might as well go mad and take a few more out at the same time as it will make no difference to your sentence.

See below for how bad they actually are.
    Fcuk we forgot garlic man.

Funny you should mention him as he actually got consecutive sentences believe it or not.

Yes a guy who imported garlic without paying duties got consecutive sentences whilst this scumbag in Galway got concurrent.
And here are even worse examples of concurrent sentences.

BTW the rapist murderer Brian Hennessy initially got three consecutive life sentences in 2009 for the rape and murder of Sharon Whelan and the murder of her two little girls.
In 2010 the Appeal court changed it to three concurrent sentences and in 2016 her family were told he was eligible for parole.
8 years after killing a mother and her two little girls as they lay in their beds on Christmas night dreaming of Santa, this scumbag is eligible for parole.
He should be strung up off a telephone pole with a bungy cord.

Larry Murphy got concurrent sentences for multiple rapes, false imprisonment and attempted murder.

The justice system in this country is a joke and maybe when some fooker slaughters a judges family they might see sense.

This Facebook comment was great. In over 30 years, never been inside a court room myself. Is that unusual.

Above my bed, there's three pictures. One of Willie Joe Padden, The Baby Jesus and that man. I knell and pray before the pictures every single night before slumber.

    God bless him.

Nope its pretty normal, these people have a very warped view of what is and isn't normal especially when it comes to crime etc which is why they behave the way they do.

Can't wrap my head around how light the sentencing is.

I know it's the same for most but any real exclamation for this? It's absolutely ridiculous.

Brenda Power had a very interesting article in the Sunday Times today as regards the legal system as it is in Ireland..she proposed the introductions of the Public Defender system, much like the American system..she made a lot of sense...

What can we actually do to have these sentences increased?

If there is a problem with jail space, can we build another jail?

I don't care if I have to pay another €10 a week off my wages to keep scumbags like this off the street and have the piece of mind that I won't randomly meet someone with 99 convictions on the street who could end my life with the blink of an eye. You work hard, go to school, put in long hours, and a little scrote can come along and end it like that? Losing respect for the legal system so quickly.

There has been an issue with prison space, there isn't now. However I'm sure there is some concern with prison spaces by Judges. Once doesn't (except in rare circumstances) become a Judge without some political leaning.

Hopefully now the economy is recovering we might see the super prison in Meath built.
