Lads I have 12 light black heifers(270kg approx ) for selling , I was going to go this Saturday but can hold for another couple of weeks if I thought there was a worthwhile increase in price coming . Think is there or should I just sell away ?

Was talking to a cattle Lorry driver that regularly buys store bullocks and heifers to put in on order to men.Good quality Ch and Other Cont breeds are up about 30 to 40 euro in last month. That would be for year olds say 350 kg + and heavier cattle.

Thanks. Yeah they thrived well all year with no major setbacks. Pic not great but this guy would be average of the lot.

What are 4 month old red and white sim bulls worth? Culling a few cows and I'll let off a few calves with a bunch of cows and they'll rob a suck somewhere. I'll have a few extra. Thanks

Also what would be the best mart for these types in tipp, Laois or kk thanks

Sold nice black limo heifers today @ EU2.40 per kilo on average , I was disappointed at their weights . They averaged 285 kg at 11 months . They were stone mad aswell which I think hit the price cos not many buyers went on them

I dropped into a Mart, yesterday and thought all stock were well back. No one there to buy bulls and the heifer trade only slightly better.

Haven't been to a mart in a good while but I've weanlings to sell soon.
from what I've heard is Gortalea mart going better these times than Castleisland?
always preferred the setup in Castleisland, safer for man and beast any opinions welcome.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,134 ✭✭✭tellmeabit

Castleisland is closer to me but never been. When it's right in gortalea is say it's very hard to beat. Sold supposed week when I though prices were back a little but made same as the animals I sold a month ago there.its was a quiter Mart

Had 3 reds at ennis today.
    03/06/17 270kg €775
    28/4/17 330kg €820
    28/5/17 290kg €830

Disappointed with the middle lad as he was the best quality of them.

Suckler cows sold there nearly every Tuesday.

Noticed yesterday there was a flying trade for light slips of heifers. 300-350kg were around the 900 mark.

Ok. You'll see if there on Donedeal if you search under Ennis Mart. All red Lim cows with calves. Didn't see them sell.
