I wouldn't call Perez an underachiever. Look at the podiums he has got for Sauber and Force India. I'm a McLaren fan and think he got a raw deal at McLaren. He could surprise some people if he got that Ferrari seat.

Was it Ron Dennis or Martin Whitmarsh who decided to sign/sack him?

    Martin Whitmarsh.

I wonder who Ron would have chosen.

    Pedro Lamy ;)

Absolutely, he is a quality driver. He has matured a lot, his performance has been consistently good over the last few years.

Slightly OT but folks here would get a kick out of it.. Borrowed from reddit and m3forum

Guy ordered a new clutch for his M3 and got sent an F1 clutch

That's puzzling to say the least - the customer base for an F1 clutch seems a little bit restricted for Amazon to have them in stock:)

Looked at that Miami track that was shown on a link.

Can't see F1 using it. Going back and over that long bridge over water would be too dangerous In my opinion anyway. Always the chance at those high speeds of cars launching, like Webber in Valencia.

I'm sure amazon shipped it from clutch manufacturer direct. The manufacturer must have boxed it up incorrectly.

^Yep, IIRC they cost around €7-8k a pop.

Anyone going to chance putting in the USA as viewing country and see if they can view the race live?

I am heading to France for the F1, can anyone help me decide between the Chicane or Le Beausset?

    https://tickets.formula1.com/en/19231-france/

It does not state if there are big screens at the chicane to see the rest of the race, but it does say there are screens at Beausset?

    Anyone been to Paul Ricard?

I'd check out some other series that race there to see which section has the most overtaking. Surely there will be more action on the chicane after the big back straight.

    https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/technical/2018/5/tech-tuesday--how-mercedes--f1-car-has-evolved-from-2017-to-2018.html

Interesting video showing the changes between the 2017 and 2018 Mercedes.

The changes are so small it might explain some things. For example it might explain why Mercedes was so quick off the mark in testing but why other teams seem to have caught up.

Ferrari has a wheelbase length change for example which must take some getting used to but Mercedes has nothing like that.

It actually looks a bit unambitious. Maybe they have just run out of road for development and gaps between teams will continue to narrow.
