Think you get to run the beep to level 5 now. They will demonatrate the form for the sit ups and push ups and you can show them one or two to get feedback.

For my open day we got to do a one lap run through of the obstacle course. Have read on here though that some people only got to walk around it?

Everyone gets a go of the push pull.

Has anybody here had any issues with vetting from relatives abroad? I have relatives in America and a pct next month so getting slightly anxious now. A SEVERE case of vetting delay with relatives abroad is 18 months of a wait, can anybody tell me what an average wait might be etc and especially in the case of relatives in america, thanks in advance.

Hey when have you got email about pct ? I had my medical 1st feb and still no email or no contact from srg

Level 4 of the bleep test
We could WALK around the obstacle course
And NO ONE got a go on the push pull.
Was a waste of time for me.

That's a shame! I wonder why they changed it?

Done it in January. Think there was just too many people there that day so probably didn't have time to let everyone try it.

Hi just wondering has anyone had to have their medical reviewed by the chief medical officer? If so how long did it take? Had medical in January and haven't heard anything since?

Does anybody know if there were people from the June 2017 Campaign taken in to the college in the last batch for definite?
Also, is there anybody still waiting in the campaign who has had their vetting fully cleared yet?
    Thanks in advance

They tend to gather up a pile of them first before they send them on for review. It has been known to take several months in some cases. Might be no harm to give occupational health a call?

That said next intakes are not due til August and then October, so you've loads of time for PCT, sergeant/super meetings, vetting and sign off. Just a pain because you can't plan anything except save money and train!

I did medical in late January, had to get a few bits and pieces checked and sent of the report stuff start of March. The sign off happened last week. Give them a call, they are good for getting back to you.

Was it a long day overall, is it just a quick run through the fitness test and that’s it?

Can anyone tell me what we have to bring to the medical or is it just yourself??

We were all bundled into a lecture room for a quick talk and they split us into two big groups, first went to the hall for the bleep and to show us sit-ups and press ups and the other to show obstacle and push pull and vice versa. Think it was about and hour and half in total, about a half an hour wait for the other group to finish there walk around the obstacle course.

I'd say it would be a different experience if there was less at it.

Just yourself and your doctors details to hand for the form you fill out.

Anyone have to get laser eye surgery after their medical? If so, was it successful? Was vision back right after a few days? Any info about it would be great

I got PRK with optalise. Took me about 3 days to heal which was hard but best money i’ve ever spent. 20:20 now and no problems! 100% would recommend!

Yeah I got it done with Optilase about 2 months ago after my medical. It was a great success. I have 20/12.5 vision. Which basically means on the eye chart I can see 2 lines below what is 20/20. It cost me 3,490€. My vision beforehand was around -2.5. It's not as bad as you think. It's very quick. Recovery is another thing. From all my research about it I had an idea what to expect. For 3 days after your surgery it's not good. Not to sugar coat it, the 3rd day of healing is basically hell. It was for me and most people's account of it. Imagine having something like am eyelash stuck in your eye all day but 10 times worse and there's no break from it. Painkillers are gonna be your new best friend for those 3 days. But almost magically on the 4th day there's no pain. Your vision starts to get better after the 5th day mark and continues improving until it's pretty much perfect. The sharpness comes after a month or two. Well worth the money for what it is. But I still miss my glasses haha. Ah well.

Great to hear a good news story about it! Getting LASEK done next week... just getting a bit nervous about it! Also great to hear you say it’s the best money you ever spent considering how expensive it is :) glad it worked out for ya anyway

Thanks for the reply! Had a feeling it’ll be sore enough alright. Probably didn’t realise it would be that sore but better I know I suppose :D I wore lenses, I was -4.0 so I had to wear them all the time so it’ll be a big change for me but definitely sounds like it’ll be worth it! And you obviously had nicer glasses than me if you miss them.. I wouldn’t wear mine in the back garden in case someone saw me ha :D

I had a consultation about a month ago for it did you pay the full whack upfront if you dont mind me asking or did you go on a pay plan??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39 brandon12345

Full whack up front. Got a loan from the bank. Paying out that much was probably a lot worse than the procedure haha.

Yeah I mean it's only painful for a few days and then it's gone and you do get excited to go out and look at stuff to see if it improved every day. Not sure if I had nicer glasses but you get sick of people saying to you more often than not "Oh but sure the glasses suited you" 😂
