I did my Int sept, Irish December and haven’t even had a medical yet. My oom is in the twenties too. We are quite similar. Doing this Irish really slows things down it seems. Did you have to keep emailing/calling about the medical date?

Hi when you said you did irish was that a repeat for the likes of the leving cert?

Yeah had to do Irish as I hadnt two languages as required. So i had to sit a irish exam with PAS. You dont have to sit it if you have two languages at leaving cert dont worry.

Ya that's exactly the way I'm thinking too, cheers for the reply and best of luck on Saturday!

Have you done your sergeants and superintendent interviews?
I did my sergeants interview 2 weeks ago, still waiting on the superintendent to call.

Just wondering would anyone know I have my medical next week and I had an mri in about October for a sinus issue. Results showed I had a tiny cyst in my brain and I was referred to a neurologist who said it’s not an issue and for my sinus issue there was no diagnosis. For my medical should I get a letter from my GP saying that I saw a neurologist and there was no diagnosis and that everything’s fine? Or should I go in and not declare anything as there isn’t actually anything wrong with me.

There is nothing going to be gained by not mentioning it. I am nearly sure that your doctor will be asked to disclose everything anyway. If you a grand now, a letter should cover you. Someone who have been through the medical themselves, may be able to advise you better. I am just going by what I've read..

I wouldn't bother if I were you. If you're alright now then there's probably no need. You only need a GP letter if you've had a major issue in the past or are currently diagnosed with something. (As far as I know) Maybe you'd feel more comfortable telling them about it but you might be slowing your application down for nothing if they decide they want look into it. If you're alright now I wouldn't bring it up. Up to you of course :)

Anyone know how the medical appointment goes. How long is it? Do you just walk into a reception at the headquarters?

Took me an hour and a quarter start to finish, call to main reception, they take your picture and give you a security card and direct you to the medical area. Fill out a form, give a urine test, then see the nurse who does height and weight, blood pressure, hearing test, lung capacity test.
Then up and wait for the doctor, they will do the eye test, colour blind test, a few stretches, feel around your stomach and ask you some questions. They will pass or fail or defer you there and then, hope this helps and good luck!

Guy in work from the June 2017 campaign got an invite to an open day on 21st April. I'd say the next lot of PCTs will be shortly after that? Can always ring HRM and say you are available for a last minute cancellation.

I know it's been asked before but would you have the number to contact them please?

No problem: 01 6662571 - it's at the bottom of every email they send, if you're ever stuck.

I rang HRM a few weeks ago to ask when my medical will be , they said it was on the 18th of April but I never got an email to confirm, how many days before the medical do they send out an email ?

I got about a months notice but it can vary. I’ve heard of people getting a phone call the night before but no email. Maybe give them a call just to confirm.

Literally rang HRM just there and the woman said that we would get 2/3 weeks notice prior to the medical. Very frustrating waiting.

It would be devastating to fail the second time, never mind the first. I wonder did they train or think that they could just pass? How did you do yourself?
