On the topic of hidden gems on Netflix I recently rewatched ‘the pledge’ with Jack Nicholson. Great performance from him as a retiring detective who promises a family that he will find their daughters killer. Worth checking out it you haven’t already.

Great movie, haven't seen it in years, will watch again over the weekend

Tbf, I still put on the Kevin sketches to piss off the teenager in the house. I won't write it off just yet…

I missed it 1st time round as I was living abroad. Have watched it a few times now and I find it funny. Have not teenager too, maybe that's why I find it bang on

Jaws is now on Ireland netflix. I haven't watched it in years.

"Farewell and adieu to you, Spanish Ladies
Farewell and adieu to you, ladies of Spain"

So many brilliant performances in this film. Robert shaw is superb.

    American Odysey is brilliant...

Anna Friel whos was great, plays an American soldier caught up in a Middle Eastern special opps mission that goes horribly wrong, along with a load of diplomatic and political corruption.

Really nice story between the main character and a teenager from Mali or Algeria(Cant Remember) :)

13 Episodes and all in a solid 8/10.

I enjoyed this. I never knew where it was going, it's one of those shows where if you don't think too much about the plotholes/unrealistic parts it is enjoyable. Think there is only the one season, don't think they got a second. Would have continued watching it though if it had.

I watched The Invitation just now. I wasn't sure where it was headed or how I felt about it but the last half hour sure was tense! I was sweating here. On reflection, it's definitely worth a watch. It's a bit unusual. I'd be interested to hear other opinions if anyone watches it.

I thought it was really good. I loved the mood, tension, dialogue, and the ending which was clever. I hadn't seen Logan Marshall Green before...He was perfect for the part. It drew me in from the beginning and kept me there.

I’d recommend public enemies. Good film and Johnny Depp is gorgeous in it.

I have watched it twice now but cannot remember a thing about it, except it was good.
Deadman with J.Depp is waay more memorable for me. I have watched it once only and will never forget it.

I abandoned it after episode 2.
    It was disappointing.
    In other words...crap.

You are so right Itssoeasy...Watched this afternoon after reading your post and loved every minute. Quint's Indianapolis speech is pure magic and still bone chilling to this day.

Just binged Wild Wild Country. Extraordinary. If this was presented as fiction you’d laugh it off as ridiculous. Recommended.

The Hitman's Bodyguard was a slog to finish.. I like Reynolds and Jackson, but this tried way too hard. Classic buddy comedy it ain't.

Despite the Philippine government's crackdown on narcotics, high schooler Joseph expands his drug running while his cop uncle profits from corruption.

It's like a bad parody of buddy movie cliches. Definitely not worth bothering with.

As a lover of the first Candyman film (one of the greatest horror flicks of all time), I never saw the later sequels that were released and noticed that the follow up Candyman 2: Farewell To The Flesh was on Netflix.

Saw it last night and oh dear, despite the fact that the film explains how the Candyman character came about (and Tony Todd actually gets a lot more lines to say than the original), the resulting script was terrible, avoid seriously....

If you weren't a fan of the second movie Id avoid the third one like the plague although the director of Candyman 2 Bill Condon made some interesting movies afterwards like Gods and Monsters and Kinsey which has by far Liam Nessons best performance .

Currently watching the mechanism. Subtitled/dubbed Brazilian crime series, loosely based on major political corruption scandal in that country a few years back. Only a couple of episodes in but good show so far.

I'm looking for two recommendations! I'm in the mood for a Game of Thrones type film. Not a series. Doesn't necessarily need dragons or magic etc just the medieval vibe.

Then also looking for a series, not a comedy, not a documentary and not too taxing to watch. I loved 3% for example. A horror, thriller or dystopian type series would be brilliant.

I know I could search the thread but I'm running out for a half hour and hope to have the answers here waiting for me when I get back :D

Conan The Barbarian = medival film.

I know u said not a series but I’m still going to recommend The last kingdom- Viking medieval series.

Read the Pysician a few months ago. Good book. Is the movie any use?
