    Apparently there was some local debate about its continued use.
    The local parish officials had stopped using it.

    Nothing more sinister than that.

    But only temporarily..
    The local parish council had recently decided the bell should still be used, after temporarily suspending its use.

    Yeah but they created a hullabaloo locally. Presumably someone took matters in hand.

    What the hell kind of church has a ****ing swastika on its Bell anyway?

    Bestattungshaus = Funeral Home.

    It when you see it, you cant unsee it. I am very curious as to its origin, which may be completely innocent and unrelated, but if it is related how it still exists.

    I took this outside the Olympiastadion a couple of years ago, the swastika is still on the bell but they filled in a corner of it. One solution I guess.

    In the 1930s, a good German one. Nazi anti-Semitism lined up with the thinking of various Christian churches quite nicely.

    It was only the national emblem, like harps are plastered on just about anything here. Probably funded and installed by the Party faithful.

    Catholic Church didn't go too well with Nazism - the Nazis felt that the loyalty commanded by the church was misplaced, and they wanted it instead. People like Alfred Rosenberg were rabidly anti-Catholic. Of course then there's Himmler and his weird occult stuff.

    They would have been more tolerant of and aligned with various Lutheran outfits, yes.

    ah, sure that answers the question to your strange sentence.

    and omg, thanks for the hint, never heard about the nazis being in charge in germany, will buy a book and read it, thanks again!

    No problem and apologies for my strange sentence. I’ll be sure in future to be incredibly clear on what I post in case someone thinks that when I say ‘Nazi Germany’ I am not referring to the well known era of history known as Nazi Germany but a secret Nazi germany in 2018 operating alongside non-Nazi Germany.......

    Like I said, I've issues with the two of you (and others) bringing the Brits up in every single thread. That's all.

    My apologies, didn’t realise you were a moderator who dictates what can and can’t be discussed. :rolleyes:
