Someone has a huge Ballymore AP bet I reckon. To call people mad for backing a 14/1 shot that could well be odds on if he lines up is some sort of strange begrudging. Nobody said he's a cert to win it if he lines up and the excitement here, if any, may even just be due to the fact that people will have the opportunity to lay him the morning of the race for a tidy profit, or better yet see it out for a dream start to the festival. I won't miss 30 quid for a week anyway. If it's refunded I might just use it to back him in the Ballymore.

havnt a penny on any horse for the festival

Switching Samcro from the Ballymore to the Supreme is something we’re not even thinking about. It doesn’t interest us that his price for the Supreme has shortened.
"Unless the ground becomes brutally heavy - and I hope for everyone’s sake that won’t be the case - it isn’t something we’ll even consider.”

on Racing post now. so id say my 90/10 chance is about right

Added the fact he went from 8.0 to 20's on Betfair since this morning

At a 90/10 chance and say he is a 3/1(being very generous, he'll probably be more like a 6/4 shot) shot if he rocks up.

This means it's about a 39/1 shot that he wins the supreme or 2.5%.

About 12.5/1 he turns up and gets beat. Or 7.5%.

So that's if it was an antepost book. You'd effectively be wanting 40/1 to make money at the above modest estimations.
However this is NR money back. So you are basically allowed to back a 3/1 shot at 14/1 and there is no deductions. Of course they rarely work out but he still has a 2.5% chance of winning the race at the above generous estimations.

If I told you that there was a room in a building that if you walked into every day there was a 2.5% chance you would find 470 quid on the floor. A 7.5 % chance you would get mugged and lose 31 quid. And on the other days there was nothing doing only a cup of tea and a crow laughing at you. :) By God I'd be walking in there every day until they put me in a hole.

Soft to heavy is almost inevitable with the snow that has already fallen and the forecast has rain most days.

    Tried to tell you :D

    Just seen the following on Kim Bailey's blog ;

Plus 2 and dry when driving in. Foggy above..

Yes I drove in this morning with ease.. Snow gone off the roads and the colour green was back in the description of my surroundings.. Relief.

Relief too for Simon Claisse (Clerk of the course at Cheltenham) who was over for supper last night.

Simon and his team had just dug the last fence clear of snow. Every fence on the course, including the cross country fences, had their snow covering removed by shovel and barrow. That stops false ground around the fences from melting snow, and you might well ask why no tractor help.. tractor tryes marks on the grass.

Simon was happy that the course had taken the weather well and was even amazed to see some grass growth..

The ground is currently described as soft and good to soft in places and with not a huge amount of rain forecasted the likelihood is that the ground on the first day will be good to soft and after 4 days, good… So be warned don’t go mad backing heavy ground horses.

Don't mind being wrong on this, good ground makes Slattsy happy.

Just looking at Getabirds form. I feel he is very underrated. His maiden hurdle is working out amazingly well, (2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th have won since), he looked like a drop in trip wouldnt inconvenience him in that race as it seemed he wasnt at much near the end. Dropped back to 2 for MF and he absolutely destroyed them. Beat the 3rd fav for the supreme by 9 lengths. The turn of foot he shows from the last to the line is really remarkable he absolutely blitzed them coming away from the last. Look back at the race the power with which he finished it out is really eye catching. In a weak supreme if he goes out to 7/4 or 2/1 on the day he is an absolute lump job. Cannot understand why people are knocking him he looks a serious talent and I would be shocked if he has a problem going left handed, ive seen plenty of young horses run out of point to points and 99/100 something has frightened them rather than theyve a problem with the track

ssssshhhhh how am I supposed to get 5/2 on the day if people are going to be announcing the obvious to all and sundry!!

People are knocking him simply because the obvious place to look for a favourite to lay is in the novice races, Samcro is an absolute beast, there is no shortie in the Albert Bartlett so it is left by default to Getabird. It's similar to why in the last week Footpad has suddenly become the 'one to take on' now while I remain in the Footpad camp there is far more credible opposition to him and can see why some are reluctant to side with him at the prices.

Think I read somewhere 10-12mm expected on Saturday, don't think that is enough to change the ground significantly in Prestbury Park 3 days out from racing, I remember reading last year that Claisse put 6mm on the evening before last year just to get it to Good to Soft.

According to Accuweather there is 20mm of rain expected in the next 6 days, not due to freeze overnight and dailys high temps between 8 - 10 so might be good side of good to soft.

Had they left the snow melt it would have been soft / heavy

Just had a thought. Will Ruby still be one Footpad? Or would Daryl Jacob get the ride now?

Yes Wednesday afternoon/evening the track might be well sticky though.

They switch over then to the the new one Thurs/Fri looks like a possible odd shower but as you say mild. Hopefully it'll be the good side of soft.

Will probably be good to soft at best and it will be soft at worst.

I think de Bromhead could have one of his best Cheltenhams this year. He's going with a gold charge and all quite big prices.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Ordinary World to run better then the odds at 33s
Always finished in the money, still think there would have been a good race to the end with Min lto, could see him place here at best
Read in Davy's blog going to the Champion Chase

Also since 1990 only 8 favs have one that race.

Yeah they are, bets just revert to SP's in doubles, trebles if one is a non runner

Paddy power have Apples Jade Laurina and Un De Sceaux treble today at 15/1, great bet at that price.
