Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Brew Dock - Dublin, across the road from the Busarus.

Bierhaus has the most miserable barman I've came across in. Wouldn't even let one of the lads keep his top from an omnipollo bottle

It wouldn't be my favourite if it were in Dublin. I wouldn't be on holiday every time I'm drinking there.

The Underdog always has a great selection, but I just don’t like the bar itself.

The Brewdock is a pretty nice bar

I agree. Was only in it once but it seemed very dark and claustrophobic. The colour of the walls and the low ceiling don't do it any favours imo.

I quite like T O'Brennan's - decent range, decent size, decent staff, everything is nice and clean and new (faux-80s interior clearly isn't). Haven't been enough to decide for certain

Brew Dock was better with the staff from a few years ago; its also probably too close to my office causing over-familiarity. Still go quite a lot.

    The Oslo, Salthill.
Quite like Brickyard, Dundrum as it has a good selection and very clued in staff.

Mulligans in stoneybatter, my favourite craft beer bar, favourite bar for food, best staff, favourite bar all round.

Haven’t been in in ages since I moved out of the area but by god I miss it.

Don't get enough time to spend in craft beer bars these days, but have been impressed with my couple of brief visits to PMacs in Dundrum, particularly since they opened up the upstairs area, so there's a bit more space to chill. I don't know if you can really describe the Harbour Bar in Bray as a craft beer bar, but they have a good selection of craft beer, and it's my favourite bar. Looking forward to visiting a few more on this list, like Underdog.

Interesting. Might stop off on the way back from Rotterdam.
*Edit*: Gah! Closed on Mondays! Many other nice craft beer spots in The Hague open on a Monday?

    Theses 3 arent bad either:

    http://www.dehuppel.nl/

Also if you travel via rail to Den Haag Central from Rotterdam there is this http://www.minglemush.nl/ located within the grounds of the station. It has a bar inside called Anna's that has 12-15 taps offering various craft beers.

Underdog has a 50p premium on beers in there so I leave it and I'm too tall for the place.

I like the bars to be a bit dirty or something my ones would be beerhouse for a session and for one or two brewdock whilst getting the train home

Galway bay brewery bars are good. They've closed a few recently though. Hopefully it's not a sign of things to come.

Two in Dublin closed, counted by opening in Limerick and Belfast. Leases come and go - their Dublin branches are generally in pubs which had lengthy closures before or are planned for redevelopment etc.

That's one that I often overlook / forget about when thinking of where to go but anytime I've been there I've enjoyed it and it's probably one of the cheapest. I got a pint of World's End for the same price other bars were charging for a 330ml.

Keep meaning to try beerhouse. Haven't been in it since whatever incranation it was before. Will do so soon.

I too like Underdog but I also wish it was in a slightly larger space with some light.

Is it coincidental that Wetherspoons have opened close by both locations?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭slayerking

I remember being brought to the porterhouse in templebar maybe 10 years ago and just thinking this is just amazing! To this day I still love the atmosphere in there and its a pub I regularly frequent for a beer....but if I had to pick one place, prob Mulligans in stoneybatter. Beer/food combo is just great.

Yes. Doubt it had any factor in either closing.

The DL branch was a very significant hike from 'spoons; also the DL 'spoons is like drinking on a ferry and while it always has a selection of bottled craft and cask it isn't the most interesting option. And the food is awful.

The Blackrock GBB was not like any other pub in the chain - had an offo, served macro like their other non city centre pubs but to a higher extent, had things you see in a regular locals pub like last man standing competition.
