Generally Christians in this country are. Either way the point stands. The murdered guy might be going to hell because he didn’t live long enough to find Jesus or be born again while the murder did find Jesus and is therefore saved.

Im not. Most Christians would be VERY critical of the Catholic Church and the Pope.

Its a Moot point. Live long enough you serious?. Whats to stop a murdered guy in his 30/40/50 whatever years of life repenting and accepting Christ as saviour?. How many thousands of hours he spent wasting time on this or TV?. Takes five minutes really to be honest. Not an arduous process at all.

I think your definition of Christian probably even excludes Catholicism.

Ok. So we are clear on the point that the murdered guy is going to hell, even though he lived what normal humans would consider a largely blameless life, and the murderer gets to go to heaven.

    That’s a pretty sick philosophy.

As opposed to everything coming from nothing and from the nothingness all species were created, and man is a glorified monkey and the monkey started off as pond scum ad finitum.

Ah Id rather know I was made in the image of God almighty rather than being some offspring of some pond gloop!.

Also Christians DONT believe God is "in the sky". Bible is clear on this.

If your gonna insult Christianity at least try and learn something on it.

Otherwise your ignorance makes you look foolish.

You believe in Adam and Eve? You know we know more about the evolution of the story than the story states about the creation of the world. We are no more a glorified monkey than a monkey is a downgraded human. We simply are what we are.

You don't know anything about God you are just choosing to lie. Your talk of ignorance is ridiculous when certain Christians do believe in he sky and the term of heaven is interchangeable with sky

This sentiment of wanting to torture a criminal indicates the sadistic desires and fantasies within the average person. I believe that people have these fantasies about many other people in their lives but never communicate them – it could be a controlling boss, a cheating partner etc. Murderers and paedophiles on the other hand are safe targets to communicate these usually taboo fantasies.

I often think a good way to judge a person is to see how they talk about criminals and social welfare lifers. These are two groups that people freely express their violent anger towards in a morally righteous way. If they start getting into eugenics, torture, hell, prison rape, 1,000 year sentences etc., you get a glimpse into the violent fantasies that they keep hidden in other contexts.

I have an original copy of the Bible, signed by Jesus. Would that be worth anything?

Do you mind if I get a buddy of mine down to look at it?

Bit fckin' difficult when he's dead, innit?

But yeah, by Christian teaching a person who loses faith in the Christian god because they prayed and prayed for their abuser to stop, to no avail, will go to hell when they die, while that very same rapist just has to repent on their death bed to get into the kingdom of heaven. God is good and merciful and just, y'all.

Nobody is beyond Christ's forgiveness the ONLY forgiveness that matters. Peoples doesnt mean anything not one jot in the long run. People dont like to hear this as well deep down they know their anger/grudges/righteousness doesnt mean jack shyt so why hang onto it?.

Many murderers and such seek Christs sanctification in prison etc and the peace they feel is astonishing.
Look at serial killer David Berkowitz. Hes a Born again Christian now.
    People might never forgive him.
Christ has and thats what matters.

Christ has forgave eh? You know this do ya?? Please share how you do.

A pedophile, can they be forgiven with your beliefs for instance?

I think the idea is that if they repent they can be forgiven, although that's a moral issue not a legislative one. To forgive is divine so they say and I suspect the victims of those crimes are really the only ones who can answer that question.

Christ didn't die at all actually, at least not by crucifixion. Here's what really happened:

    Day Two of Christ's Crucifixion

If you look back at the photo during the execution you will see a hooded figure at the front of the crowd. That figure shouted at a nearby Roman soldier.

"Stab him with a spear. Show em who's boss wha?"

    "I don't have one."

"I brought one with me, just in case like. Don't kill him with it though."

The soldier then pierced the side of Jesus. Suddenly Jesus' head bowed. The soldier was convinced he killed Jesus but the hooded figure knew better. The spear was tipped with a strong opiate mix which simply have Jesus a tremendous high and left him unconscious.

"I told ye not to kill em ye bleedin dope ye" shouted the hooded figure while trying to hold back a smile. Himself and the apostle John brought the limp but high as fuk Jesus towards the tomb as was agreed. However they never made it to the tomb. They detoured to the coast where the hooded man had a waiting boat, coincidentally just big enough for three medium sized bearded men with exceptional teeth.

"Who are you really?" asked John. "It is I" said the man removing the hood "Judas Iscariot!". Redeeming himself at the eleventh hour, Judas, Jesus and John set sail for Cribb Island Australia. Jesus woke along the way with a vision that he must start a band. With John's writing skills and Judas' ingenuity, Jesus knew they could be a success.

"We need a name" said Jesus. "What about The Three Js" suggested John. "Too obvious. We'll be found out." said Jesus.

"I have it" quipped the ever popular Judas...

There's enough lies on the headstones of Ireland without me adding to them.

'Hope he died roaring' is oft used when we hear someone we don't like after passing. It could be attributed to criminals or people who held positions of power in the past. Politicians are often targeted, religious clergy as well.

The thing that gets me though is why people use such a term in the first place?

If you are religious in anyway especially a Christian of any denomination, a central tenant of that is forgiveness. Why would you want someone to be in excruciating pain while on their deathbed.

Even more bizarrely are those who are not religious in anyway. Normally these would be irreligious, probably progressive in their views, yet they hope someone who passed away is in agony when they die. Explain that one to me?

Maybe these people or people in general are just pricks and disturbed deep down, and just label to justify their inner contradictions so they can rest easy.

You can call yourself a Christian but do you have the capacity for forgiveness?
You call yourself a non-religious progressive/liberal yet want someone to be in pain in their last moments?

    Anyone explain this to me?

You seem to have lived a sheltered life if you haven’t been crossed by people who you just can never forgive.

I’ve a few people on the “hope he dies roaring” list and I’m still keeping my fingers crossed tight.

And I’ll admit I was in the company of someone as they passed away struggling. They fought for every breath and fought and fought right to the very end. It was quite a sobering experience, I’d been with two relatives as they died before and both were extremely peaceful.

No, that is an ignorant philistine view on it but I think the message would be lost on you anyway.

It is fine if you have people on a list but then how do you reconcile that with your own personal philosophy?

    Are you religious?
    Are you an Athiest?

Yes, it actually is. Humans are queer bunch. However I wanted to highlight the fact that individuals on one hand would be against things like torture, corporal punishment, capital punishment and so on. Yet on the other hand, they get self gratification at the thought of someone they dislike being in pain.

I suppose we are very much Old Testament in our core. The New Testament was supposed to be about turning the other cheek, there is an attempt of progression there.
Yet our modern world is secular and progressive, but we kid ourselves that we are actually that much more advanced than the people who were around in the Old Testament era.

Perhaps part of the confusion is that we use the Old and New Testaments as some kind of legitimate benchmark
