Just looking at BBC news and the big unknown is how much snow storm Emma is going to bring.
    Could be Gargantuan amounts.

It'll bring a good amount I'd say anyways.
You always get precipitation where there's two different air masses meeting.
The higher the difference the greater the amounts. And these two air masses couldn't be any more different in their temperatures with this exceptionally low air mass from Siberia meeting this mild low pressure air mass from north Africa, Spain, Portugal.

What was with that lad on the rte news "what's the problem with the runways? I'm looking out the window and it's not snowing"
600acres of apron and 100 machines. They are throwing all they have at it but 6 acres per machine and removing the piles ain't simple...
Did he ever look "out the window" and see just how many aircraft take off in an hour on a normal day?

Ha! Seen that. I nearly shouted at the telly that maybe HE should fly the plane.
    Numpty.

On sky, Emma will only skirt SW UK, but Ireland getting a full hit. A break Fri evening/Sat then more snow/rain.

How long are cattle ok without water for? Not very dry silage. I've the meal stopped. Fairly fat heifers.

Not too bad if youu're heading out on holidays but being delayed coming home is a bummer... Any updates from George Sunsnow?

As it happened we all were sat eating the t when that was on and spontaneously we all said the opposite. At least on the way home you have had the full holiday and no time wasted. On the way out lose a day and it's a day less and head wrecked before you leave

Some people have no conception of the physics and risks involved.
Dropping 300 tons of metal onto a slippery tarmac strip at 120mph is the stuff of nightmares.

The same lad would probably struggle to pull his wheelie bin up the garden path.

Heavy snowfall with driving winds now in NCD. I'm located 7 miles by road (4 as the crow flies) from the departures area at Dublin Airport.

Been snowing steadily here all night. Seems to be accumulating well now.

Looking at forecast the worst of the frosts seems to be passing now, -2 being the worst on the forecast for the rest of this cold snap.

No thaw in sight until Sunday afternoon, one wonders will we be looking at status orange for flooding for Monday morning ??

Just in from the shed snow drift about 2 foot deep in front of it and still snowing hard

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,711 ✭✭✭dar31

Still nothing here (east wicklow). Wind blew away anything that fell yesterday absolutely Baltic.
Cows out yesterday after both milking again this morning I'd say. They weren't bothered to come in last night at 8 happy out chewing the cud.

No snow here. -7 now, wind not as severe as yesterday yet. Drinkers that were free in one shed yesterday morning are frozen this morning.
Anything that was frozen yesterday was running by 12. Might not be the case today.
