-3.3c already in east Galway, and that's in a strong wind. Snow drifting all over the place. Quite amazing to watch.

Maybe this has been said before, but why do they keep saying ‘blizzard-like’ conditions? It’s either a blizzard or it’s not. If it’s ‘like’ a blizzard, it’s a blizzard

Apparently a blizzard is a very specific condition - some of us (amateurs) don't really understand.

So for fear of describing something wrongly, (in my case) I say blizzard like.

Had between 6 and 7 inches if lying snow here in south laois/ north Kilkenny. Out with the kids in their waterproofs and sled I bought after 2010. What else can you do but enjoy it....
the sky here is deliciously pink ....plenty more snow on the way then.

Wouldn't the waterproofs be a bit on the small side 8 years on?

A person on my street has managed to make a proper snowman with his son. Really dark clouds rolling in off the sea.

Even more snow heading to Cork now by the looks of the radar.
Blizzard conditions and church bells ringing makes it quite atmospheric :)

Every met station freezing or below at 5pm on the day before Spring starts.. a record going back to 1963 or 1947 i'd say..

Sherkin Island, -3 and light snow. Usually one of the mildest frost free locations. Got to be a record.

After a snow shower that lasted an hour, I’ve just taken another measurement in the level driveway outside my house in rural Kinsale. Snow accumulation is now near 20cm whereas it was at 15cm in the same spot this morning. Pics of measurement and driveway from about 5 mins ago below.
