Other than Gallagher having that miss I can’t remember the forwards doing much else.

Gallagher started well and got on some ball around the half forward line but as the first half progressed he seemed to drift closer to his own goal rather than Dublins. At one stage early in the second half I couldn't actually see him as he ended up in his own fullback line. Don't know if it was tactics or was it simply a case of following his man but its frustrating to give a young forward a chance only for him to end up acting as a defender for the majority of the game

Adam Gallagher has thus far shown glimpses of what he promised in 2014 league, game intelligence and he's a damn good free taker if given the opportunity.

His first half performance was relatively speaking impressive. Kevin Mc and Andy alone appeared capable of breaching the Dublin defence. The majority of the ball delivered to Andy was poor and was meat and drink to Fitzsimons. The spurned goal chance and retreat back like an semi auxiliary defender didn't help his confidence.

Mention has been made of the need for Adam Gallagher and Conor Loftus to bulk up.I saw the two lads up close in the substitutes area.Conor certainly has a slight frame but I believe they both have much to offer the team/squad this year.I hope they start on Sunday or get adequate game time.Cian Hanley showed immense promise at minor level and if he's half the player or as good as we speculated his brother could have been he'll be a massive addition to the squad.

Mayo didn't score from play in the second-half. It was one of the worst halves of football in a long time. Dublin had it won at half-time and played the second half at half-pace.

Was a four point loss that finished with three tap over frees a good outcome ? Did Dublin only score 1-1 in the second half because that’s all they need to score or was it because Mayo stopped them doing much more ?

From TV coverage it looked like Dublin were playing well within themselves but obviously its hard to gauge.

Fearful of what the Dubs could do to Kerry in Croke Park after seemingly cruising through that second half conserving energy, while Kerry are after 2 tough games in a week.

I was in Croke Park for the Mayo v Dublin match last year and I fear that Dublin may want to do the same to a young Kerry side, who up until the last 2 weeks, may have been getting notions.

Praying for snow to give Kerry an extra week! A stay of excecution only but vital recovery time.

On Galway, they are doing really well considering they are just promoted. But am I alone in half expecting a similar end result to that of Roscommon in 2016? Challenged in a big way in the league and even had Dublin on the back foot in Carrick on Shannon, but come championship they had peaked too early and couldn't sustain the intensity? Galway have secured their Div 1 status now for this year and if they end up in the league final that more than likely means a second encounter with Dublin in April. I don't think Dublin will hammer them in a few weeks time, but in a league final i think Gavin is really going to want to punish whoever his opponent is to make up for last years loss against Kerry. I can't see that doing Galway any good for championship. It will be interesting to see it play out, maybe the return of the Corofin players will give some of the players the respite that they will need at some point.

It would be no harm for ourselves if that happens and we have the break this weekend rather than next weekend, get more players back

There is an issue with the corofin lads playing for walsh by all accounts so I am not sure they will get any player from Corofin. Galway have better players now than that Roscommon team. They are playing with intensity/drive and I don't see this disappearing like roscommon. This is also a better Galway team than the one that has beaten us in the last few occasions imo

The Dubs game will tell a lot as they will go at Galway. I think the defenders in the corners can be got at with fast ball but nobody has done this yet. I think the Dubs play faster into the forward line so it will be interesting to see how they perform defensively.

A bad beating by the dubs will set them back but if they give a good account of themselves throughout the league, they will be confident coming to Castlebar.

Liam Silke and Ian Burke will be the Corofin starters for Galway this summer and few others will be subs. Player quality wise not a big difference between Roscommon and Galway, that much was seen at underage and college level. The difference between the sides is Galway are building their team from the back on a defensive system while the rossies under McStay thinks they can make progress by ignoring their defensive problems.

That is the main difference with Galway this year. Where before they were happy to go the shoot out root they are now a team with a Tyrone coach working on their defensive structure and looking to hit teams on the break with pace and a wrecking ball of a full forward in Comer if they have to go long.
Looks straight out of the Donegal McGuinness era playbook.
Corofin`s Molloy is another I could see fitting well into that system.

Galway have worked on this system for a few years now but had a few system meltdowns along the way v Tipp 2016 and v Roscommon 2017 for example. Paddy Tally has been brought in to fine tune things.

Their defence was like an open gate in 2016 and 2017 at times.
Tally (couldn`t recall his name) has changed that with a system combined with the introduction of a few new lads, and it shows.
Sean Andy O Ceallaigh from their U21`s last year at full, back one in particular, who had enough confidence against Kerry in Tralee to get himself into a one on one with the Kerry keeper even if he made a hames of it.
This Galway side so far look a way better overall team than 2016 and 2017

Agreed this Galway team have come on 100% however in the last 2 games against Mayo and Kerry yesterday, they have thrown away commanding leads. They are still a team in progress but are very entertaining to watch.

This Galway team looks far superior than their editions of the last two years. They look far more defensively sound. There are players from Corofin to come back,Daly and O Curraoin.

Very impressed with the defensive setup our Tyrone friend has put in place.McHugh and most especially Brannigan supplement an already strong firepower up front.

I do believe Lavelle's kickouts can be got at and will be targeted on May 13th.

Galway were fairly solid in defence when they beat Mayo in 2016 and 2017 in the championship. Remains to be seen lads how much Galway have improved though, Kerry and Mayo are along way off the required fitness level right now and both were far from full strength in those defeats to Galway.

Far from guaranteed he will be starting on May 13th ;-) O Curraoin definitely wont be starting unless we have a spate of injuries between now & then.

Power from Corofin,he was very commanding in the club semi final?

Yep. I suspect he will get the nod over Lavelle.

And isn't it brilliant that so many Mayo & Galway supporters are so excited about their championship match already?!!

From a Mayo point of view and I am biased:D, I don't think it is entertaining as it is packing the defence and waiting for a mistake to hit you on the break. They will not play full on like we do with the Dubs. I think Walsh has been trying this tactic for a while and now has it in working order. This will get you so far but in Croke Park this system can easily blow up in your face and be on the receiving end of a hiding.

The big important fact is to get ahead of galway in a game and then they need to take risks and open up a little. This is where they can become vulnerable.

Yep. I suspect he will get the nod over Lavelle.

I would not be too sure. Lavelle can have periods of madness common to most keepers and is terrible on short kick outs, but with the new rules, many of the advantages on the short kick out are gone.
After that double save yesterday he will need to mess upin a serious way not to start the championship as first choice keeper.

Not being over critica,l but Mayo forwards didn`t have one of their better days v Galway in 2016 or 17 and the present Galway defense looks better now than it did then.
I take what you are saying about the fitness levels, but for Kerry perhaps not so much.
They are rebuilding and their present forwards I would not see any major changes come championship. Plus those younger lads, while I would question their physique come championship, their fitness level looks well up to the mark.
Kerry`s defense is a bit of a mess though. Has been for years if you run straight down the middle at them, and no signs of that having changed.

Brendan Harrison is out for the remainder of the league with a hip injury.

Paddy Durcan is only 50/50 for Sunday.

Tom Parsons may make the squad for next Sunday.

Matthew Ruane played for Breaffy at the weekend.

    If
there is significant snowfall and if it lasts until the weekend maybe a postponment would be handy.

GAA are going to announce Friday what if any games will be deferred.

Cannot see any games this weekend in the east of the country whatever about elsewhere.

Absolutely, it'd be great to get some bodies back and give the rest of the lads a rest.

Harrison is having surgery on his hip next week. Highly unlikely to be playing again for a few months.
