Had a really nice snow shower at short while ago and sun back out now. It’s left it’s mark on the Blackstairs already. The windward side should have gotten a better coating as there was quite a breeze while it was snowing.
Hard to see in pic. Better in reality.

Going on latest radar appearance of Irish Sea things will deteriorate a little quicker this evening than suggested by likes of Harmonie which suggest a 9/10pm kick off

Surprisingly here in N. Donegal were having the same little light (very light) snow flakes blowing in the wind and i didn't expect that at all at this stage.. bodes well? Or does it mean nothing?

Been blue skies and sunshine here all morning and then clouds got slightly darker and wind picked up a tad. Sunshine is still breaking through tough.

My thinking is(I'm no expert) because it's coming in from the northeast we are getting a wee touch of it. I think when it swings more East and the real snow starts it will be mostly further south.

Not a bad idea imo, focus people's attention on tonight and tomorrow first. Everybody on the street is talking about Thurs/Fri but many people will be in for a surprise before then.
Good point but I think the uncertainty also has a lot to do with the 48 hour forecast.
It must be a real nightmare for forecasters as it is unusual for a low to track up from the south in winter, I can't remember seeing it before?
In summer its common enough for a low to move up from the south from Biscay, it always brings a spell of fine weather to an end with thundery rain and is often called a "Spanish plume" ... but in winter .....

The showers on the radar in the Irish sea seem to be holding together a lot better and even intensifying a bit, just passed the Isle of Man and heading in a Dublin direction right in time for rush hour, hopefully they will hold together and this shall start it off...

You can see the more organised showers forming behind the warm sector on Met.ie radar now.

Expect things to ramp up significantly in the next 2-3 hours.
