Can't believe how easy Smith gets it to be honest! Some luck! Hard as it is to say this, but I think Eubank would have beat him!

Nieky Holzken will be replacing Braehmer, he's 13 and 0 with 10 KOs and has 91 wins out of 105 fights in Kickboxing/Muay Thai (former Glory world champ and European Muay Thai champ). Pretty disappointing replacement if you ask me. Seen some clips of him where he clearly has no head movement and has awful footwork. Joe Gallagher will be delighted haha

Looking at Eubank from the other night he won't beat anyone worth a damn!

Maybe you're right! BUT Smith is bang average in my opinion. There has to be a reason his team and promotor won't match him in a 50/50 fight...

Actually I take that back, I think Eubank would be favorited to beat Smith :)

Smith for me has still to prove himself. I said the same for Eubank.

Smith I reckon would be physically too challenging for Eubank. Eubank would have a puncher's chance. He's not a massive hitter, but still a chance.

Smith has height, reach, range and good hard straight technical shots that I think would keep Eubank very honest.

I don't think his shots would keep Eubank honest enough. I think Smiths head movements really isn't good enough to withstand Eubanks Barrages (wild and sloppy as they are) and nothing in his career suggests to me that Smith has the ability to tie up and counter on the inside like Groves did. I can only see Smith covering up against the ropes with a high guard and possibly slipping the odd uppercut. Those Gallagher gym left hooks to the body are totally overrated too - they only look good against low level opposition which through Smiths and previously quiggs oposition, they have been pronounced.

I guess the problem is that we just don't know enough about Smith! Which at this stage raises suspicion.

Very similar to the Canelo v Chavez bout recently. The son of a legend fighting an established fighter and being completely out of his depth.
I suppose boxing along with other sports is based on hype but this was a con job. I would give him the last round but when the crowd are laughing at wild windmills no matter the weight class differential that is, like the Chavez effort, disrespecting this great sport.
Not a classic by any means but engaging and yes Groves could have done more but crucially he didn’t need to. Nullifying Eubank by holding, grabbing and tying him up is part of the game.
Doing his wrapping and having no trainer? Good lord. Senior’s body language in the press conference after said it all. He knows junior is not up to it and anyway its not exactly a tight relationship. IBO title is about as much as he’ll ever get. Sure he can bang but there’s so much more he’s missing.
Groves footwork and craft were superior and Eubank complaining after that he had been butted throughout was laughable considering that in one instance he clearly led with his head and should have been deducted a point.
Groves saying that he’s all talk and no substance was perfectly apt.

Is anyone going to watch tonight?
It's the least exciting fight of the whole super series IMO. I might just stick to the boxnation card.

Watching this in German but Smith is far from impressive. Wide open to right hands

Braehmer would've beaten him tonight I think.

Smith has literally zero head movement. Really struggle to see how he lasts 12 with a puncher like Groves.

I was all over that 10-1 on points bet if it had happened

Don't tell anyone MJ, lets keep it quiet and get 3s/4s on Groves by KO

Anybody scoring this. I didn't expect Nieky to be still in it at this point. Looks like he's still well in it but he keeps eating jabs.

Smith 3-4 rounds up I reckon but I am not scoring it round by round. Absolutely dire fight compared to the other 3 WBSS semifinals

I can't imagine that ITV boxoffice got much revenue tonight.
Smith won against a scrappy B* level opponent. He looked weak and wide open to a right hand. His only weapons seem to be his size/reach and a decent jab. He didn't seem to push any pace so I'd also doubt his engine. I think Eubank beats him and Groves stops him inside 6.

    * By B level I mean regional level at best. That Nicky guy would be lucky to win a British regional title IMO

Groves going in for an operation on his shoulder and asking no the WBSS to postpone the final by a month.

Think Smith injured his hand so he'll probably agree it's the Saurlands and TV companies who'll have the final say though.

Seems too convenient to be true. Was just over three weeks till the scheduled fight date and they'd no venue announced.

Russians have probably come in with a big bid to host it. Bet it happens in a Russian stadium at the end of the summer. Saudi Arabia never made sense.

    Good News:
Bantamweights announced for next series including Tete, Burnett and Rodriguez (winner of Inoue vs McDonnell likely to follow)

    Bad News:
If Groves is not ft for July then Eubank Jr will fill in for the SMW final.

So Bantamweights and Super lightweights are in play for the next season but what’s the third weight?! They threw us a curveball there lads! Would love if it was light Middle - there’s some quality fights to be made there!

The bantamweight one is looking very good.
