Got the game trying to figure out the subs and i am getting no where. Getting **** kicked out of me so far on career or doing slightly better on play now games.

Got a bit of game time this morning, started career again and having much more success, KO's by at least the 2nd round. Training camp of Learn, then Spar, then train between power and strike stamina until the end of camp, made a huge difference. My last fight though, I got a rival message after it off a guy I already smashed. Said I'd check the rankings and it looks like I'm in the UFC but was never told. Might not be seeing things right. Do you get your first rival in the WFA?

Scored this sweet KO on ultimate team. Your man tried some spinning **** on me, spun himself straight into my first. The KO animation is class in the replays.

What sort of fighter did you start over with this time? I need to go back and start again and give it a proper go.

Striker. Stick with the training schedule above to get up power and strike stamina. For the fights, you have good kickboxing combos like L1 & L2 & square (body hook) followed by R1 & circle for kick. You will have WiFi punch to kick combos and when you hit the body first, you can catch them with a clean head kick.

Once your temp stamina drops below 25%, retreat and let it get back to max before attacking again. Also, use footwork instead of blocking. I have my finger hovering over L1 ready to flick away if I see them loading up a shot. Making them miss before dashing back in for a counter does great damage and lowers there permanent stamina quicker.

Lastly, stay away from the ground like you were fighting Khabib. You might have success but it kills your stamina as you have poor grappling stamina. I knocked a guy down, jumped into his guard to finish him but it wasn't a finish the fight scenario, for straight back up and couldn't believe the chunk of permanent stamina that got zapped from me.

To counter the body spamming online to drain opponents stamina.

Very disappointed in the lack of proper walkout songs. I know it’s only something small, but UFC 2 had plenty of them. Pay the few quid EA, FFS.

Just cracked the top 100 in UT. Dead proud so I am! :D

And now to go on the mother of all losing streaks...

EDIT: Aaaaand it’s gone. That was a wild four minutes.

Was hoping event pack fighters would be 4 star (or at least main event winners would be) because there’s such a lack of them while everybody has gold fighters already. There doesn’t seem to be as much scope, there’s absolutely nothing more I can do to improve any of my fighters as it is, I have some of the best move cards on them already. I’m getting kinda bored of it tbh.

I'm concentrating on career before going back to UT, really enjoying it. My current rival is Conor after some tough fights against Eddie and Nate, both played really similar to how the fight in real life. Learned some beastly moves that are wrecking people but the top 5 guys are a different level from the rest.

EA definitely oversold the press conferences and weigh ins. Career doesn't have as much depth as I thought it would but still way better than the last 2 games.

Yeah same. Only thing to work towards is the champion fighters. Any idea why the Champion Conor is 5 stars while the rest of the champs are 4 stars?

Lads, how the **** do you defend or transition out when the opponent postures up?

Played a few games online against a mate last night. Was doing okay on the feet but once he took me down it was all but over. :pac:

Are there any good tutorials online that aren't too heavy?

Block a couple of punches and transition then, or hold r2 and flick the right stick in the direction of their punch to trap their arm but you gotta be quick. You can then flip them over if you hold it once you trap their arm I think

Got 3250 in the live events. That's 250 off the live event pack which was 3500. Fuming :(

Ah bollox, forgot to even check for a live event. I'm about 4 fights short of GOAT. Trophy for getting a superstar contract on legend is gonna be hard but I suppose you just have to beat the champ for the that. I saw a vid of legend difficulty last night and it looked class. No HUD, looks like you would fight like being in a real fight and not go spamming punches.

For ultimate team, is it best to do solo championships or solo challenges before building a strong enough fighter to go online?

Less than 10 fights into career mode so far, really enjoying it but I didn't really playUFC2. There's a good bit of a learning curve, even for striking.

I've noticed a few bugs, every time I get back up, my southpaw is always in an orthodox stance. It's a pain in the balls to change stances every time. Made absolutely certain that it wasn't me just hitting R3 by accident.

The lack of feedback as to what went wrong when failing to block takedowns or transitions is a dose. The AI just spam it over and over when they have some success with it.

Also found the scoring is a bit sketchy. Lost a round on 2 of 3 judges score cards where it was 2 knockdowns to 1, 32 strikes to 27 (also landed a much higher percentage) and I had control for 33 seconds. The only thing against me was 12 significant strikes to 16.

That'd be fine if significant strikes had a higher weight or whatever, but I'd also lost an earlier round where I landed 14 extra significant strikes.

Apart from that, there's a ton of stuff that's excellent too. No interest in UT as it's shoehorned in here just as a money grab, but enjoying career so far.

Actually, did I make a balls of something here, my only fight options now are against constantly against lads that are 10-13 rating better than me in striking, stamina and health and 15-20 better than me in grappling.

Hey man, a few things on your post. Sorry for the wall of info.

Career stats - I had the same at the start, constantly up against higher rated fighters. A Dev posted some tips on this. I tried it on a new career and made a huge difference.

Start a camp (make sure to do as many weeks as you can and not pick the default 1 week. Your fitness level will be about 60. Training starts will only see them go up by about .10. Instead, choose Learn first. Learn some moves will bring your fitness to around 70-80. Then Spar, that should bring it up to about 90. Now Train. Your stats should increase by .60 and upwards each time you train giving you a higher rate of increased stats. Train to increase stats for the rest of the camp. I was a striker and focused on power and strike stamina first. Forget about promoting fights until you are at contender level in the UFC. Using the above, I was mostly higher stats than anyone I faced.

Yupp, after you get back up, your stance changes. It was in the last game as well. Devs are aware of it but I dunno why it isn't fixed yet. One thing if it happened depending on the get up animation but every time is a pain in the hole.

Hold R2 to block and if you see them shoot in, press down on the right stick to block a takedown. There are various animations that occur. Early timing will see you push them away. Middle timing will see you sprawl and late time will see them take you down. The timing is increased with your takedown defense stat. If you have a poor stay and they have a high TD stat, it can be hard to block but there is a grapple advantage better at the very top middle of the screen. This meter shoots to the left or the right with either blue or red letting you know who had grapple advantage (GA). If you throw a strike, the meter will shoot to the opponent's side. If he tries a takedown when he had GA, it can be very hard to stop. Different moves five different GA, go into practice and mess around, keeping an eye on the bar.

On the ground, GA is also in play. Hold R2 and flick the right stick in the direction the opponent is moving to block his transition. This will give you GA and if you preform a transition or escape, your movement bar moves faster if you have GA. Again, go to practice mode or do submission only matches from Fight Now menu. Concentrating on ground game without worrying about strikes will really open it up for you.

Again, stats come into play. If you are a striker and they are a grappler, they are gonna have faster takedowns and transitions, key is to hold R2, watch for the takedown and ready to press down, even if it means eating a punch.

Judging. Yupp, sketchy as ****. Devs recognise it and tweaked it a few days ago but still like Dana White says 'don't let it in the hands of the judges', it will be a lotto. Health events (when your health meter starts flashing) seems to be the biggest indicator in the eyes of the judges. I think ones people start fighting more clever (not swinging wildly opening themselves up to vulnerabilities, there will be less health events and judging will be more even. Even so, I've lost bizarre decisions where the stats say I should have won.

You should give ultimate team a go, I didn't have to spend a penny in the last game and it was my favourite mode to play. Don't let microtransactions put you off. Now, if you try and don't like the format, fair enough but between solo challenges, single payer championships and online, there's a good bit to keep you going.

Became GOAT last night, thoroughly enjoyed it. Still, career mode has so much potential in an MMA game, hopefully UFC 4 builds upon it.

I went into ultimate team then and got a bit bored. I only have one caf, silver, and he is a grappler with an awful chin and worse striking, not how I want to play. I have a good few pro's but really don't want to use them. After a few fights in UT, I went back to cater to start legendary mode as a straw weight sub specialist. Only had a few fights but they have been great tense battles.

I want to get stuck into UT, think I'll just have to start using pro's until I find a gold caf with a style I like.

Sound man! That's all super helpful.

I wasn't sure how to get my fitness up initially, so just did training until I could spar. Looks like I should have done learn first and it would have helped to boost stats. Oddly enough I'm still getting a lot of knockouts even though my stats are terrible and I suck at the game. I was wondering if the ratings really made that much of a difference.

One other thing I noticed last night was that there was a huge framerate/slowdown during sparring and fights. It was like everything was in slow mo. I hope thats because I hadn't turned off the PS4 for a while rather and it'll be fine when I try it later.
