Yikes there is a major schism in the Hollymount Carramore club according the Mayo News.

The amalgamation appears not to be to everybody's liking.

The proposed formation of a new club seems a bit insane in an area well covered by clubs and the reality of rural depopulation.

Some heads need to be banged together.

Only saw the highlights but I thought Kerry looked wide open at the back.

Totally, but they will probably tightening up with us or make some changes. I'd say the long ball with the donegal lad slotted it to the net will not go down well.

You would expect that but I would also have expected Fitz & Co to have come into this League campaign with some sort of defensive system. Seems to be a continuation of the "go out and play" attitude from them. But I'm only basing that on highlights obviously.

They've a lot of quality but the more I see of Fitzmaurice, the less fear I have of Kerry.

It is hard to know how good Donegal are as well but I would never take anything for granted with Kerry. We tend to leave teams in a game when they shouldn't be as well but to do them again on saturday will really make my day

Oh ya, I'll emphasise the "less" fear part. Would never take it for granted.

Looks as if without Murphy Kerry expected Donegal to set up defensively and not play the ball long.
Their full back followed the Donegal full forward out to mid-field and when Donegal lost Mullins to a red card, Kerry left him there as the spare man.
I cannot see them doing that against Mayo, plus they will most likely start a few more experience hands at the back. Especially away from home.
But then, what do I know.
With two points on the board they may be happy to stick with last week`s defenders and see how they get on.
They have some dangerous fire-power up front that will need minding.

Didn't that kick off last year? I remember reading somewhere about 25 people in Hollymount signing a petition or something to try and start a standalone club in Hollymount again. Can't remember the exact details but I think the lack of use of the Hollymount facilities were one of the reasons given for the unrest.

Contents of the letter seem to be entirely reasonable and sensible.

    Which letter though?

I'm guessing there has to be a lot more to it than just a loan?

    It's all really quite pathetic.

I'm surprised with some of those named being involved, but not surprised with a couple of names there.

As Oldtree said, there are 2 letters. One from either side.

The Hollymount Carramore (H-C) letter seems reasonable.... "let's all pull together etc etc"

The St Comans Hollymount letter also seems reasonable.... H-C rejected membership of the club to certain individuals from Hollymount. H-C gained control of Hollymounts bank account shortly after they amalgamated but neglected to take over a loan that's still owing and individuals in Hollymount are trustees / still liable.

Only read the first letter composed by the existing club.:)

Like in most disputes there appears to be a large majority of reasonable individuals on both sides but the agenda is been driven by some hardliners.

Backed by The Peoples Liberation Front of Hollymount?

What is the main gist of the schism? Is it (percieved) dodgy stuff happening to the bank account & who controls it, or is it the personalities involved?

Like all these local disputes it is probably mostly a case of he says she says.

The appeal from H/C in their letter for those that feel disenfranchised to return with
"After all, there own sons are already members of our underage squads, ...."
is either a low ball or (even though the only mentioned males a no no nowadays), tactical genius.

Lovely morning.Expecting a very heavy pitch with all the rain recently.

Met Eireann forecasting a dry, very cold night. There should be a bumper crowd.

I'll skip the second half of the rugger and press record on Eir Sports 1.

Was down this morning for a look. Looks heavy alright.

Not expecting too much from a very young Kerry side. If we see the same fight we saw out of them last week then regardless of the result I'll be happy.

We looked physically outmatched by Donegal at times, and Mayo are another step up. On top of that the heavy pitch makes it a bit harder for our 19/20/21 year olds to skip away.

Now i'm not expecting us to roll over either. We'll have to be more defensive than last week. Scores will be harf to come by. Mayo by 4 or 5.

Given the amount of injuries mayo have I'll settle for just a 10 or defeat ;)

The rest of the Mayo people have got over the crippling inferiority complex. Time to get over it.

How ****ing insulting to your own team that you scoff at the idea that ye might beat Kerry in a tight game at home by 4 points.

    IT WAS A JOKE
    I think we will win
There is no inferiority complex Vs Kerry in the league anyway ;)

I saw a stat in the paper about how good Dublins was since 2013 and remember seeing how ****e Kerry's was. Is Mayo's bad as well? Monaghan last year, Kerry the year before come to mind.

Why do you think that is? Mayo like to play at pace and MacHale slows them down? Or is it something to do with the amount of night games. Most of Mayo' home games seem to be under lights.

Our home record as mentioned in recent years is atrocious.Perplexing the reasoning, inclement weather with a slow pitch can't always be offered as an excuse.

I'm not sure if it's home town pressures. In recent years when the threat of relegation has become most acute they seem to pull big performances out of the bag with more of regulars back in the fold. But oftentimes away from Mac Hale park.

Our record under the floodlights is shocking. You're right we've played a large amount of games under same and what should be an ideal atmosphere and environment seems to have stifled them. Not sure if there's an absence of motivation and mentality of simply doing enough to stay.

We've lost and drawn a load of games to northern teams, your home county and two defeats to the Dubs including an awful spanking. Some stand out.An awful loss to Kildare if I recall correctly,Tyrone,Monaghan,Cavan were three that stand out for all the wrong reasons.

It would be nice to get a win tonight, that vital win against Donegal last year was nice to experience with a home crowd.

Looking forward to seeing Clifford and O Shea tonight.
