Othegre is sailing high over the desert when she enters a clear patch in the storm, in the distance she can see a village.

Can she tell if this is the edge of the storm or a localised hole? Either way, she's going to come crashing down - she begins to angle for the most graceful landing she can manage as close as possible to the village.

"I do my best to lead a righteous life aye, in servitude to the Lord Nír... Kim isn't it? Law and Order is surely alien to your kind"
"It certainly is! We're a bit, well racist and aggressive to tell the truth!"

    She floats closer to Moy.

"So where are you of to? Seems your little group has parted ways."

Othegre can tell that this is but a local lull in the storm. She manages a semi-graceful descent and lands near the well of a small village with some twenty houses. A little boy stares at her and runs into his house.

The outskirts of the village have sticks with oxen skulls on them, forming a circle about the village.

Othegre takes note of whether the oxen skulls face in or out. She also checks for heartbeats - Ash and any villagers she can sense.

"ok, tiny chancer. You still alive?"

She roots in her bag desperately. There's a stone but it's silent. Unmoving.
"Dwayne? Thank the mistress, I thought I'd... Dwayne..? DWAYNE?"

She begins to huff and puff onto the stone

"Don't you dare! <Puff> don't you.... Ahahahaha you silly pebble!.... No, *you* can't quit *me*!"

She pops open Simon's hatch to see if he came along

    The oxen skulls face outward.

Ash is heavily lacerated and unconscious, but alive. The village contains around fifty heartbeats.

Ooc. Sorry, edited in a Simon check! Also, daytime?

"Oh you silly, probably foul tasting little thing."
She dabs the blood from her face and has a sneaky taste. Bleurgh! Ale, coal and a hint of lantern oil.

"...ha! Look D, I know this is your first adventure but let me explain something to you. The storm is leaving this place alone. They're either exceptionally good - and that's bad news - or theyre exceptionally bad - and that's bad news - or they're protected from on high - and that's bad news - or they created the storm - and that's bad news. There are a lot of them - and that's bad news - and none of us are worth a damn in a fight. But the good news is... Uh.... Look! The outside world! "

Is there a bucket on the well? If so, I'm going to draw water.

The window opens up into a very expensive looking foyer with a single door at the end. It is unnaturally dark in here, the windows should let in more light.
I refill and light my lantern then I tip my head to Kal, nodding towards the open window. then I open the window and climb in. I cast Detect Magic for the second time as I start to examine the foyer.

Simon pops out. "Interesting spot Othy"

    The well has a bucket.

The Foyer has several expensive paintings and the kind of tedious little gold sculptures the minor nobility seem to love collecting. The door to the next room has a shoe as its handle.

Detect Magic indicates a light dampening spell is in effect throughout the house.

"Othy? Man you've changed...so, what do you reckon? Cult village? Front for a coven? Methodists?."
She checks the well water for any weird smells, colours, sign of putrification etc. If it looks ok she uses the well water soaked into the sack in her backpack to clean off Ashs face and casts cure light wounds.

"Of course I've changed Othy, others can hear me now, makes a guy self-conscious" he says in a voice like velvet.

    Ash groans as she stands.

    "Uhhhhh....too much ale?....no, the storm....wooooo....where are we?"

"I have no idea. Up the creek, I expect. Let's find out!"

Othegre helps Ash to her feet and starts looking for any sign of a public building - we'll head for a tavern, store, library, office of government of dome description, temple, in that order of preference. If there's a place of worship she will note any sign of the attendant deity and the state of the building

    The Old Estate:
Opening the shoe handle door Flak is treated to an incredibly ornate room, plush rugs, exquisite book cases lined with old volumes and freshly made cakes and pastries. A man sits kneeling playing a card game with two beings with statue like skin.

"Blast it, I win again, no challenge."

    He turns excitedly.

"Oy, you there old boy, care for a round? These constructs haven't a wit of imagination for the game."

There's a tavern only a short few feet away.

"Aye you seem it" I chuckle "truth be told I don't know, I set out on this journey to see the world, so I guess I'll just keep travelling, I don't have anywhere in mind."

    I try to sit up.

"I like the dwarves, and we're all trapped here for a couple months so I'm not going too far for the time being, do you know where the others have gone to?"

    ...

"Aye, Bandy and the Devilrider aren't the best at keeping still, I wonder how far Othergre will get in the maelstrom, she does have advantage over the rest of us."

"I reckon I'll see what or who the fire dwarves worship, and try introduce a few of them to the Lord Nír when I'm well enough to walk about. You're intent on politics if I have it right? Don't know if leadership is my thing"

I decide to test myself and try swing my legs out of the cot.

Moy feels intense pain over his entire back, but he can keep it in.

"Master Cleric" says one of the physicians "the council wish to speak to you, if you are up to the task?"

We approach cautiously. Othegre will try to assess how many are inside before we enter. If Ash can walk unassisted she'll let her go first and then put on foot over the threshold to see if the foot bursts into flames or falls off. All being well we'll all go in

Kal pockets one of the small gold trinkets and follows Flak into the shoeroom.
He quickly and subtly checks for traps in the shoeroom while the man is distracted by Flak.

"I'm not sure of the rules of your game Sir but I'll play a hand." I sit opposite him so he'll keep his back to the door where Kal is lurking.
"Who are you and are these all your books? I have a thirst for knowledge and I'd really like to look through your collections".

Ash steps in fine and some towns people turned with a concerned look on their faces.

    "You alright miss dwarf?"

Othegre walks toward the entrance but feels a bang as she hits an invisible wall.

Kal finds no traps, but spots doors slightly concealed on the East and West sides of the room.

Ooc : can I tell the difference between a standard threshold barrier and a ward off some kind?

"Ash! Don't be rude! You can't just rock up into town and barge into the tavern like that! Get behind me. This is how a lady greets strangers."
As ah moves behind her, Othegre does a comically exaggerated eye roll / shrug combo and a few exasperated hand gestures in Ash's wake. She clears her throat.
"Good day, sirs and hers.we are but simple sand-surfers who fell out of the sky into your delightful little burg. Our bodies are chafed and our throats are parched. May we join you for a drink and to exchange news?"
She tries not to look too desperate.

So why not play a round? Or simply wander the house to your own content, you'll get bored eventually."

OOC: No you're grand, I roll for stealth, basically so you're not sure if it worked, i.e. you might fail and somebody will notice you but they won't say it right away or act at that moment.

Kal steps out into a hall with a red carpet and paintings of generations of the same family, Bambois, on the walls. To his North there is a single door.

An old woman stares hard at Othegre while downing a drink.

"A vampire? Good. Come on in."
