I see what you mean, just think Fangio has an amazing track record. I could deal with him leaving the Bears but if he goes to Green Bay too kick Trubiskys ass twice a year in perpetuity I couldn't be dealing with it.

looks like we are going with Mike Pettine, Bradley signed a 3 year contact at the chargers and I say Fangio was too expensive for us, is it true his earning around 7m?

I don't know what his actual figure is. Three years ago he was the highest paid DC in the league, and I presume if he stays that will remain the case. To be honest, for the years of mismanagement by the Bears ownership, and the amount they charge for season tickets (4th in the NFL and raised the prices last year after winning three games!), shelling out what's needed to hold onto a decent coordinator is the absolute minimum they could be doing.

Take it with a pinch of salt, one of the lads on the Giants page said the reporter isn't the most reliable

Latest reports are that Fangio looks set to stay with the Bears under Nagy. Very good news for the team, continued defensive stability under a coordinator who has shown the ability to get the very best out of a not terribly talented group of players at a time when the development of the offense and new QB will be the critical area of focus. Hopefully he is rewarded with a few good draft picks and Free Agents to shore up issues in the secondary (assuming we will lose one of Fuller and Amukamara) and find another edge rusher.

Wasn't Matt Patricia basically a shoe in to be the new head coach in Detroit ?

It looks like Nagy's first official hire will be the return of Harry Hiestand which is quite the statement. Our OL was at it's best last time he was coaching. He's regarded as the best in the business.

ND's line just won the award for most outstanding OL in college ball this past season. They always gave great o-lines.

That's a fcuking great hire! Have been watching his O-lines at ND for the last few years, would be delighted with that. Hoping we draft at least one tackle, but I think we have a strong, though ageing, line that is capable of doing a much better job of protecting the QB and run blocking for Howard.

Roberto Aguayo the 2nd round draft pick kicker is getting yet another chance

Signed by the Chargers and will get a chance in camp. Chargers went through 4 kickers this year, mess of a situation

I may get some cleats and start practicing, we can't be far off ringing random phone numbers for a kicker :pac:

They should sign Blair Walsh for backup. The kicker dream team.

As long as someone other than the Bears are paying Aguayos salary this year, I wish him well.

Bears hire Mark Helfrich from Oregon as their OC. Obviously best known for working with Marcus Mariota, and for developing his philosophy under Chip Kelly. But beyond that I know nothing much about him. Anyone any thoughts?

It's for the best, re the Panthers. While he has been playing injured Cam just doesn't have the sharpness of the real elite guys (makes up somewhat with his other qualities though not enough to close the gap) and I know the power game compliments their defensive scheme etc very well, but they've been lacking any real innovation or explosiveness for the last two seasons for me. I think they could improve the talent available too, but there's just something very... predictable about them, lethargic almost.

They finished #12 for points this year and #15 last year, though with the positions their defense leaves them in so often (going 100% on assumption and the games I've seen here, so could be wrong!) they should be higher than that. They were also #21 for yards per play last year and #19 this year as well as #19 this year and last in total yards.

I see Cian Fahey has resigned from ESPN after reported ignorant behavior towards colleagues at a bar after drinking.

    That’s a real shame.

I know he’s not to everyone’s tastes but I enjoy his analysis and it’s extremely rare that someone from these shores would ever get the opportunity to progress to doing podcasts for ESPN.

    Massive opportunity blown.

Was watching Nick foles highlights (hoping he finds form for tomorrow :o ) and remembered Sanchez on our team, just wondering what are people's take on him? I feel he gets ridiculed for the butt fumble which to be fair is so so embarrassing but I think it clouds people's judgement of him

Looking at his stats he was an ok/solid QB he did ok with us and had some good results with the jets

I think he took a confidence hit but is a capable backup. The jets are a nightmare for qbs

There's an Irish guy that works for PFF called Sam Monson who's pretty good. https://twitter.com/PFF_Sam

By all accounts he's been a good mentor in Chicago, was some rumour they'd make him a QB assistant altogether rather than a backup, supposedly his insights and experience are very well respected but don't necessarily want him taking up a roster spot because that's not the value he provides to the team
