I dont get this hate for the cult storyline. Its the best thing that has happened to FC in years. It seems some people are just not happy unless they are giving out.

I actually haven't heard much hate for the cult story compared to others. People just think Emmett is a little simple in the head and Pete is annoying.
I actually think hey could do a lot more with Dr Oakley!

To the people who seem to hate it, what exactly would there be if there wasn't this storyline? Exactly what would you be watching in FC if the cult storyline wasn't there- Orla and Wayne arguing about money? Paul having his 100th affair? Delores walking past Vinos arm in arm with Pete, both of them giving out about everyone else? Is that what you call entertainment??

AT least FC have tried something different with this storyline and although its not perfect, nothing is and I for one really appreciate their effort and think its a great storyline and actually very relevant to modern times, what with all the mental health campaigns that are ongoing.

The cult storyline being slightly better than all the other stuff, does not a good story make.

I've posted about it before but none of it is credible. It's impossible to take this cult seriously because of the way it was introduced, the way the story was built and because so many characters seemed to get sucked in so quickly from a small pool of characters. I know you are enjoying it, but to a lot of FC fans it's just utter nonsense. Like take the Charlotte stuff with Oakley, started as part of this story and then just seemed to be forgotten about. Katy was also involved in the group at one point and now she thinks they're a pack of headcases

Fair city burnt a lot of bridges with their fans and the Katy story, so people are less likely to buy into badly constructed plotlines like this one any longer. If they are going to try storylines like this one, at least make some effort to make them credible.

Sorcha Furlong AKA Orla got engaged!

Cue Late Late Show and/or Ray Darcy appearances.

Is it to Paul Harrington (Rock n Roll Kids)? I know she had a child with him a few years ago

One of the last times I remember her being on The Late Late she was talking about being engaged!

It was introduced and developed properly that's my point. Miriam came into it over a year ago and started as a love interest for Eoghan, which led to Emmet going to the sessions to open up about Katy, then he gradually got sucked in over a few months. Plus its realistic that not everyone fell for them- Pete and Bob and Carol and Robbie knew they were a cult straight away so at least they didn't have everyone turn into a mindless muppet!

Yes its a bit stupid that they dropped the Charlotte side to it I agree, but as for people being stupid, sure the world is full of Hannahs and Emmets, a fool and their money are soon parted. Even if you don't like this, do you like any of the usual tripe that FC serve up as entertainment- Damien vs the World, affair, Damien, Pete, Carol smoking, that's not entertainment that's rubbish. There are a lot of people here who are just whingers and choose to keep watching a show they don't like for whatever reason but I can see when a half decent storyline comes on and recognize it as such.

That's where I disagree. The phoenix way is really only around since august or September..before that she was manager of the units and mobile phone accessory trollies. none of this holistic self healing stuff was mentioned...then all of a sudden...bang "de group" was everywhere and she was manager of some peace and love center with plinky plonky music and soft cushions.

I know we differ on the storyline, but actually on your two points there, the Phoneix Way was around and established since May/June and Miriam did actually tell Christiano earlier on this year (remember him!) that she was taking a step back from the Arcade to concentrate on the Group.

No chance of her getting written out any time soon so.
