What villages have ftth? I've only seen Wexford town mentioned for ftth, and in a very small area at that. VM are making great inroads into the county with Enniscorthy already done, work has started in Wexford with New Ross and Gorey soon to follow.

Currently 5500 homes passed in the Openeir rural FTTH rollout. Proportionally Wexford has done the best so far out of all the counties.

Wexford has done so well with FTTH, much faster development than most other counties in Ireland. All these places have FTTH.

    - Wexford Harbour
    - Broadway
    - Killinick
    - Tomhaggard
    - Kilmore Quay
    - Duncannon
    - Rosslare Strand
    - Wexford Town (Eir, Siro and VM)
    - Curracloe
    - Kilmuckridge
    - Enniscorthy (Eir, VM)
    - Courtown
    - Inch
-Fethard On Sea (live from next week)

Those villages south of the county I wouldn't know anything about, there's no ftth in Enniscorthy and a work colleague lives in Curracloe doesn't have any internet worth talking about never mind ftth, they get 0.5 to 2 meg on a good day.

The Enniscorthy exchange has 80 passed FTTH address's, most likely in the surrounding countryside rather than the town itself. If VM serve most of the town, there is little reason to start laying FTTH there, however Enniscorthy town is planned a Siro FTTH rollout at some point.

Curracloe has 540 premises passed for FTTH, again these would be just outside the village as the village itself is served by a FTTC cabinet.

VM will keep me happy for a while, it sure is a long way from 1 meg in 2006.

On an 8MB package and speeds have been pretty much reaching that even at peak times until the last 2 weeks. Now it's up and down and mainly only getting around 1.5MB.

Anything obvious that it could be?

The similar US/DS speeds hints that that link itself might be capping your throughput. Have a look at your line of sight.

    Thanks for reply.

Line of sight is fine, nothing has changed there.

I have gotten good speeds the odd time over the last few weeks mainly during the day but at night it's cat. I know this is peak time but up to now there was no issue so i don't know what has changed.

    It's ruining my tv experience!!!

Yeah I have eir FTTH in Cork and never get below 5ms usually around the 6/7 even when testing to the server ion Cork as I think that backhauls to Dublin first. I think

Im in Athenry in Galway and I always get between 5-6ms ping too on my FTTH.
Ping times to rte.ie are always about 6-7ms too, so im guessing everything is routed back to dublin.

They were posted in their own thread somewhere, have a search.

So it is not a symmetric line? something like 1000mbit down, 100mbit up? Or speedtest servers have hard time keeping up

BTW thats incredible (from my still stuck in 20th century internet point of view)

FTTH in Ireland can't do symmetrical speeds due to it being all GPON based.

I could be wrong with this but I think if Open Eir and Siro were to provide customers with maximum download and upload it would get to about 1000 / 500 max per customer.

    Eir's highest setting right now is 1000 / 100 and I think Siro's is 1000 / 250.
