And the interior completely changed. When it was Barry's house - correct me if I'm wrong - it looked more spacious, and there was that big sitting room which was accessed via the hallway by a sliding wooden door. By contrast, the O'Brien place looks pokey - a completely different house.

Charlie Roberts is the name of the actor who played Paddy Clarke in Fair City in those days. The actor died in 2005.

Aww... I'm sorry to hear that, as he was a genuinely good actor and a real character! I was hoping that he'd reappear some day and shake Charlie out of his posh phase, but it's never going, sadly, to happen. R.I.P Charlie Roberts. :( These days, Charlie, Cass and Bela - who I can't believe was once a babe magnet! :D - share nothing but watch paint dry scenes..... It's all about bunions, allotments, Cass's unbelievable around the world trips, and Westerns... BTW, whatever happened to Cass's young friend, Amanda???

"I know you killed your daddy" fcuking evil bastard! Oakley makes my skin crawl, the scenes with him and Charlotte are actually genuinely uncomfortable to watch, credit to the writers tonight. And the real question is, when Manson finds out, I suspect shes not going to do a thing, Manson is as bad as Oakley, even though he is taking the spotlight right now. Very good story I must say.

Call me weird, but I'm actually enjoying Oakley's character, I sort of like him - or at least his calm, menacing style..... I know I'm weird as f**k, but I like my genuinely menacing baddies. I'm the type of person who wants the Joker to get the better of Batman, (I root for certain baddies) as I have a soft spot for bad guys/girls, but not in the case of rapists, domestic abusers, or child abusers....

Further to recent events I think the last thing RTE will be doing is encouraging friendships between grown men and teenage girls.

Just for fun.... And please don't divulge your real name, but how many of you guys share real names with FC characters; I confess to sharing a first name with one female character. :D

They certainly are more interesting in a soap than watching a boring character like..... Ama......... I won't miss her. Don't know what happened to Amanda.
I get her confused with Karen.

I don't share a name with a character in FC. They haven't given my name to anyone in the entire history of the soap!!

I know, but that's PC for you, I guess.... Many young people share genuinely innocent friendships with older men or women of the opposite sex. (I did as a little girl, and the old man I was so fond of was no child abuser, but a genuine granddad type) Sorry for going off topic, but other soaps have bridged that generational gap with genuine friendships. :)

Has Neimh really gone off to 'Dance With The Staff?' I don't see her in the promo line up.

Ama was a dose! So glad she's gone, hope KA is next to leave.

I think it's the first time ever - maybe they've done it in Eastenders - which I don't watch - my first name has been - to the best of my knowledge - used for the first time in FC as that of a regular character. :D

She wasn't in the line up originally announced but I read today that Superstar Aoife Walsh (dunno what she 'stars' at) had to pull out of competition and they'd be announcing her replacement in the coming days but surely whoever the replacement is would be doing some kind of basic training so they're not starting from scratch way behind everyone else.
FWIW I think she'll pop up next on Striking Out or something like that. Flex her acting muscles a bit yeno?

Is Oakley worse than Miriam? I can't figure that out. I do agree with you that there is no cult storyline apparent. Not the Manson family but more a battle of power between Miriam & Oakley. Where exactly are they heading to is not clear. Why is Oakley picking on Charlotte and not some other member?

I think because it's more than likely that he has her well sussed out, and knows that she'd be the most likely of all to become his ally, when he's broken her down enough to the point of trust. Like him, she's self-interested, unfeeling, unscurplous, tough, bloody-minded, and is a pretty good liar.... He might even see her as a protege of sorts... After all, she only joined the group for selfish reasons, namely to network with Cormac, therefore, he knows she has that side to her. It wouldn't be the first time it's happened, threatening someone to the point of breakdown, then building their trust, bit by, bit, just to test their mettle, and then secure their loyalty.. She could have gone straight to the guards and confessed to Paddy's justifible manslaughter, so he wouldn't have a hold over her any more, but she didn't. She chose to stay, and despite all, did his bidding.

Agreed. There's nothing I enjoy more than a drink with my daughter's friends <early twenties>. I know them all since they were seven or eight. They call me Papa Joe. Whenever I go into the local one or two of them always come over for a chat.

I can't see how Charlotte got suck into the Cult in the first place, DJ contacts? pfffft, she's evil and wouldn't be sucked into so easily, that's why I think she's double bluffing, maybe she'll end up running things, Decco or Katy doesn't seem to be worried about her.

Same here, but from the opposite viewpoint. I always love a chat with the older men and a bit of innocent banter, and they've always been decent and respectful. :)

My father used to say, "If you spend all your time with people your own age, you'll learn nothing."

Sorry I've no FC stuff. I haven't watched two full episodes in as many months.

I can still see Oakley and Charlotte, despite the latest bullying scenes (if he really wanted to hurt her, he could easily have done so by now (he's a doctor, after all, he could have gone the route of the fake overdose thing), or tipped off the Guards himself, but he needs an ally on the inside, and who better than someone like Charlotte, someone not to far removed, though not as sophisticated in her methods as himself - unless they tie up the storyline before its time or throw another cracked tale into the mix - eventually joining forces, as it would be of mutual benefit - given their personalities - to both in the long run. He'll break her down first, IMO, then gradually, let her off the leash a bit more and stick up for her when Emmet is giving her a hard time, and maybe (well, if it was a proper soap it would be well done) gain her trust by revealing things in bits and pieces about how Miriam isn't the saint she pretends to be, and then, eventually she'd agree to help him, while still playing the innocent, terrified ''victim'' of his. Who knows what exactly he told her, asked of her tonight. We all assume copping to the poisoning, but the scene cut then and what if he promised her something in return? Hence a twist to come later.....

Anyway, just briefly before I say night, night to all, back to the Oakley/Charlotte thing. Sorry for boring the s***e out of you all, but tonight when he grabbed her by the wrists and she asked something along the lines of: ''Why are you doing this to me/what do you want from me?'' He merely replied. ''A favour''..... Now, if it was the poisoning thing alone, would he refer to it as ''a favour'?' Somehow, I doubt it, he'd say, ''keep repeating it, no one will believe you'', or words to that effect, but a ''favour'' leaves it very open ended; after all, they cut the scene, at that point, and later, when she ''confessed'', she looked right at him as she did so, but despite her outward, fearful demeanour, her eyes told another story, they looked calculating, and it was as if she was asking him, ''is this what I'm supposed to do?'' 'Am I doing this right?'' But that's just my take.
    Sleep well, folks. :)

Oh God! Even when I was only a lurker, always skipped by those posts. Plenty of sites out there to cater to that sort of thing. This, as far as I can see, is a friendly, funny thread where people take the p**s out of FC, or speculate over storylines, or just chat innocently in general. One solution: Don't feed the troll. :D
down with that sort of thing- ye need to join a nunnery in new year me thinks

I couldn't sleep for ages last night, so I re-watched FC on the player app on my phone (I know, know, it's hardly Golden Globe winning material) Even though it went right over my head yesterday evening, the Pete magician thing really made me laugh out loud. Even sugery dim KA was able to see through his coin trick, so that says something about his skill as a magician - namely, he has none! I find it hilarious the way he thinks Ronan is after Dolores. Then poor fella is dying FFS, and he's just lonely - God knows he's mentioned it enough how much he misses his wife - now, if he were really after Dolores, he'd hardly be putting the moves on right under Pete's nose. If anything, it's Dolores who probably has a bit of a thing for him - after all she's always the one inviting him out - not the other way around. Then again, this is Pete we're talking about, hardly the most reasonable minded, likely grumpiest, and probably the most paranoid man on FC (Damian is't far behind him these days)

Anyone else notice the extra in the blue Christmas jumper in the first scene in Vinos lastnight staring directly at the camera and then gaping open mouthed at Doug and Delores as they spoke their lines.

I don't know how that made the final cut! :D:D

Just on the Fair City isn't a place to go to see good looking women.

To be fair I think Caoimhe and Melanie are beautiful as well as the latest Farrah what ever came of her and also Dan's daughter she's very good looking

That's probably every woman under 35 tho in it :p
