Lads I’m after going full Star Wars again. I spent the morning reading theories and now I’m listening to the Phasma audiobook on my flight today. Someone stop me please.

    Let it flow through you.

I don't know why people analyse the **** out of Star Wars films. Leave reality at the door and go enjoy the fantasy. None of the films are perfect. Very few films are

Book? Been two decades since I read them but that was a trilogy, no?

Might be mixing it Up, read A LOT of expanded universe back then.

Ah ya, I meant the new Thrawn book, it's written by the same author- ties in with Rebels show

That original trilogy isn't canon, but ya, they're worth reading too

Ah I love the analysing aspect
It's annoying when its just people constantly sh!ting on something miniscule but reading people's theories is fun :)

Can't read fan posts/theories myself. For every insightful one there's 50 whinging at something trivial. People getting annoyed about the laughs in the new one is hilarious (taking a fantasy movie way too seriously). Myself and my two lads (6 & 7) were in stitches at
the New Order firing everything at Luke then he walks out and brushes off his shoulder.
Some really good laughs in it. I feckin love Star Wars, prequels and all.

I love the theories. Yes there are people who talk nonsense and moan, and a lot of people who completely miss the point, but there are also people who know a ridiculous amount and pull out absolute gems
like whoever noticed they were talking about hyperspace tracking in Rogue One

Ah, my animosity for the Seahawks has declined as the 9ers have been so woeful. Looks like it might ratchet back up next season though :D

Anyway, thus ends a disastrous fantasy season for me across the board.

I hope the Niners keep it up. It might help the Bears' draft order.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and hazard a guess that your name really isn't MF... so I call BS on the rest too!

It's mad...it's just one of those movies I've never watched. I'd never watched a james bond movie until Daniel Craig came along.

    Godfather - Nope
    Goodfellas - Nope
    Pulp Fiction - Nope

Any other cult movie worth it's salt - Nope.

mcfeiling grew up in Tyrone folks. No TV out there, evenings were spent line dancing in the local yokel inn.

Maybe it would be easier if you told us what you had watched? ;)

Like anything in the top 10, 20, 50 here?

What are judges in this country smoking.
Ian Kelly (26) drove the woman to a secluded spot before repeatedly punching her in the face, head and stomach. He took her phone and bit her hand when she tried to get it back from him.
He said he would suspend the sentence because “there are positive features which would be utterly at risk, and to no great benefit to society if he was sentenced to jail”.

He noted that Kelly was serving out the final year of an apprenticeship and his employer spoke very highly of him. He also noted Kelly’s voluntary involvement with youth football coaching.

He said this activity was at odds with his own inability to control his own temper as teaching young men how to control their temper was an important feature of coaching.

    FFS

Driving someone to a secluded spot and beating them, well it was his temper's fault. The poor cratur.

The bloke has 10 previous convictions. He pre-meditated and carried out a physical assault. The man is in a role model position with children. No jail time.

The news coming out in the inquest about Alan Howe is rough. He cut his kids throats. Killed his wife with an axe.

Don't really believe there is a hell, but if I'm wrong I hope that c*nt is suffering in it right now.

It's utterly horrible, horrible stuff. You'd have to wonder wtf could be going on in someone's head to do something like that to anyone let alone their own family.

It's a completely selfish and self-centred act. There seemed to be some kind of history there because the mother in law knew immediately according to her own testimony.

I think the note on the door would have been a strong indication that something horrible lay inside.

Obviously the man was severely disturbed at that point in time. Could it have been a medical issue?

She said it was based on recognising his handwriting. The rest of her testimony from the inquest was that he had perfectly normal while drinking tea and eating biscuits with her the evening before.

I found the case highly disturbing. I found particularly disturbing the role the local priest seemed to play in pressuring the family into burying him with them. Ultimately I don't give too much a damn about burial from the perspective of the dead, but I do care a lot about the importance of grief and having a location to grieve. How could you ever grieve at the grave beside your loved one's killer?

There was a counter campaign after the funeral to recognise the victims properly, and I think it worked. I'll never forget who Clodagh Hawe is. But it took me a few seconds to process the name Alan Hawe.

I wonder do those sealed letters contain any clues to his mental state. We have absolutely no business knowing, but sure we have no business knowing any of this really.

We were seriously in the country. Local pub and shop were a mile away. Didn't really bother much with the tele...Crystal Maze on a Thursday night!!

Trying to think of any of the movies that would be in a top 50.

    Clockwork Orange maybe?

The first time I ever saw a scene from Star Wars was when I wish in college and got involved in some awful student short film playing the role of a star wars obsessed geek. The director made some reference to a scene in one of the films and I stared blankly before telling him I never seen any of them. The absolute incredulity on his face was some sight. He tried to make me watch them then.

I've seen the phantom menace and half one of the other ones but I just have no interest.

That pisses me off. 10 previous convictions FFS! Situations like this makes me think the 3 strikes rule they have in the US could be the way to go. Yes I know there's lots of issues with it but in this case I think it would be fair.

Don't worry Thomond, it's not just Irish judges who don't live in the real world. Last week in NZ some guy got found guilty of beating up his wife, their daughter and the wife's lover but got discharged without conviction! The judge said his actions were understandable as he had just found she was cheating on him.

It's brilliant that the phantom menace is the only one you saw. I don't blame you for not watching any of the others.

Although actually maybe one of the best scores.

To be honest, that's a bit like saying you started Ulysses (or any book) somewhere in the middle and then read another chapter further in, but it didn't engage you.

It may not be your cup of tea, but that's pretty much stacking the odds against it from the start.

Also probably one of the worst episodes, watched did you. ;) The early works are triumphs of special effects for their day. Even now, they look pretty good.
