Of course the war was one of the most ridiculous foreign policy decisions of recent years; but given what's happened the choices seem to be brutal dictator or civil war.

And it's up to you to decide who lives and who dies?

Al Qaeda and ISIS are a figment of your imagination.

    They don't exist.

This might come across as edgy and unique on infowars and other tin foil echo chambers, but seriously it's pretty sad.

We used to be bombarded with videos and pics of ISIS guys driving around the desert in pick ups . Big black flags and all sort of weapons. Where have they gone?
    Where have Al Quieda gone?

There always has to be a bogey man to scare the public. War is profit.
    Dont believe me?
Check out the share price of Raytheon ,Lockheed martin and Boeing over the last ten years.
Trump is in the process of asking for another 6 billion from congress to add to the 600 billion they spend a year on defense. Defense from who! Nobody is attacking the Us

    But I haven't. Have you?

Have you ever witnessed or experienced anybody claiming to be a member of these groups? Ever?

I suppose you can go on about infowars or tin foill hats if that is your bag but have you ever seem or witnessed a single member of these organisations? Has there ever been a march or a statement from them?

I don't recall one. Do they have an agenda or a specific MO? Again I have never seen or read of one.

They opened a kebab shop in Limerick. Oh hang on you mean Al-Qaeda? They're still around.

Have you ever once witnessed anybody claiming to be a member or these groups?

    I haven't.

I've seen people claim membership of the IRA or ETA or Black September or The Tamil Tigers or Shining Path or......(fill in the nomenclature) but I have never once experienced anyone claiming to be a member of Al Qaeda or the Islamic State. IS in Libya/Lebanon...whatever ISIL stands for.

    I haven't, I really have not.

Look up videos of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, self proclaimed leader (Wali) of the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), whichever you want, which is his breakaway faction from al-Qaeda.

Well, I suppose that proves it all then.

I've never seen the tooth fairy. Hence her/his existence can't be sub or unsubstantiated either.

    Al Qaeda doesn't exist.

There's no other way to say this, your posts are incredibly stupid.

Where around are they? Have you seen them yourself?

There are no brown bogeymen coming to get us.

Of course not. Islamist terrorists need not be "brown".

I'm curious... Are you basing this logic on being in Ireland? I wonder if you realise that Ireland would hardly be a high target for recruiting.

Try going to some of the political/social/religious rallies at universities around Europe. You'll be able to meet representatives of all the militant groups

I think it will reduce eventually with an emphasis on the eventually part, the appeal of islamic based "activism" will fade the same way the appeal of Pan-Arabism/military quasi-secular nationalism faded in the middle East.
Not disappear completely but on a scale of something similar to the Red Brigades particularly if global society suffers increasing shocks due to climate change etc.
Also if either Iran or Saudi Arabia come out decisively on top it will change things as their on going proxy wars are fueling stuff.
I also see events analogues to the partition of British Indian into India and Pakistan occuring, ethnic cleansing and big movements of populations, its worth taking a look at the the very grim events relating to Mosuls capture, Sunni resistance isn't just being halted it's being exterminated with the presumably cold hearted goal that it doesn't matter what hate is left behind the potential for a regrown ISIS to reappear just won't happen.

I think in Europe though the process is less along the timeline and it will be present for the next 30 years.

I also very much dislike the idea that concern of ISIS related activities is something similar to anti-vaxxers, one may be statistically very much not at risk but if the trendy bar you used to go to has had people bleed to death in front of it, the bridge you used to walked every second day having multiple fatalities and those places you have happy memories from on holidays being scenes of carnage you may know it's unlikely but it changes the associations and mental landscaoe you have to areas and events.
