There is a simple solution if FG don't want an election.
One minister is holding the stability of the country to ransom, it could be said.
She messed up whatever way you look at it.

Did someone whinge about the good of the country? FG are flat out doing it.

To be honest I’d say any minister of any party would probably not have remembered an irrelevant email
This faux crisis is at its core SF vs FF with a good bit of civil war politics thrown in
Would FF be putting a no confidence motion down if SF didn’t. No
Could FF be seen to vote confidence in the Tánaiste when their justice spokesman is also banging the irrelevant email drum ? No especially when so many of its PP hate the arrangement because Eamon Develara had a row with Michael Collins

It’s frankly all a contemptible political game and yes damaging to the country

Let's not worry about this just yet. The important thing is that Michael D is the shortest serving president in history.

And the 'nothing to do with FG sthick' continues.

If this was just one disquieting thing about the handling of Maurice McCabe, you might have a point. There has been a succession of them.

It's time somebody paid a political price for this. Even to the extent of taking power of them. I think FG will be suprised how much people want this to end and to have a police force and DOJ with integrity. It certainly hasn't got that.

Several times you have referred to the email as irrelevant, events however seem to contradict your opinion.

You’re on here the last 24 hours posting ad nauseum about how terrible FG etc are, like a true shinner with nothing better to do with your time than post faux outrage about alleged corruption (laughable coming from a shinner). Do they pay to post here like they do most of their other social media hacks? Are you given a script that you stick to keep repeating? Because it sure as hell looks that ways scanning your posts.

See I’m more interested in working, the economy and bettering myself- outside of the SF Cult this is how the vast majority of working people are thinking. SF are in for a bit of a land if they think working people are broadly interested in their program of endless welfare paid for by the likes of me and people like me. I have no desire to undo the undeniable progress of the 6 years and send us back into SF iniatated chaos.

George Snowjob, the email was caustic not irrevelent . Landing on your desk, would be like a ticking bomb. The staff member reviewing her inbox would have flagged its importance.
She then should have made contact with her legal Counsel at the Tribunal.

It was suddenly found when Alan Kelly, knew precisely what he was looking for.

LOl. Like anyone needs validation from some meaningless shinner on boards. Guess if you rack up enough posts and likes they pay you on that basis, right?

Deal with the post, attacking the poster shows your inability to answer the poster. What's the point of personal attack?

Leo bottled it on tv just now. Looked and sounded all over the shop

Good to see FG on message. That's 3 FG ministers mention Kangaroo court during every interview they have given regards the current crisis.

It's mad watching FG implode so dramatically.

Surely to God Leo copped that his relationship with FF was the main thing that mattered as they were propping up his Regime.

But no, it's toys thrown out of the pram time...

He actually kinda swung me around that maybe this Fitzgerald stuff has more to it than what's being pounced upon by the opposition.
    Also an election... ugh.

What's your opioions on way this has panned out??

Is it inexperience or ineptitude has varadkar backed into a corner where there deosnt look to be a way out without losing face??

There was no logic to staking his reputation on a minister who clearly mislead him...on an issue which has dogged fg governments with years at this stage

It's called lashing out. They are angry, very angry that they haven't been allowed to get away with it.

Since the Russians will be blamed for this, should we just get it out of the way now? How did Putin manage to pull this off?

They are like children always someone else's fault. No responsibility for their own actions or lack thereof.

I'm thinking Frances might have proof Leo knew more than he let on.
Massive miscalculation that a fib in the Dail would get them through.
Something is wrong, a smart politician would have got rid sooner than this. He is only in power by Grace of FF in reality.

Yeah something is seriously wrong. They are literally mincing themselves. Why can't they make her go. Very, very odd.

I wouldn't discount the possibility that FG actually WANT an election (despite saying the populist stuff). They maybe do want one - while the smaller party's are doing so badly in the polls and while FF are still behind them in the polls and while it means SF would be going into such an election without being able to declare who their party leader will be.

Doubt it, the anger on display is very real.

Still don't understand what they expected to happen. They got ample warning that motions of confidence were going to be laid before the Dail and still did nothing.

Something else going on. Maybe there is knowledge that there may be more to come? I heard on the radio there that M. Martin was seeking reassurances that there was nothing more. Usually means Michael knows there is.

It does seem as if they are terrified about this particular scandal.

Calling an election is probably the only thing Leo can do without the permission of FF. Sort of ironic actually.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,261 ✭✭✭✭Beechwoodspark

    Someone has dirt on Leo.

Not the first time I've heard that said. There have been rumours around but I've discounted them as just that, unsubstantiated rumours

Don't see anything wrong with Leo's performance on Six-One News this evening.

Made clear that he feels that Fitzgerald has done nothing wrong and it's FF and SF that are contriving to escalate the issue and that he wont just sack her on what he believes is zero grounds.

Also, does not seem to fear an election. Maybe he thinks the issue looks worse on the opposition than the government.

Was less impressed by Sharon ni Bheolain's aggressive and biased questioning.
