The young woman nearly squeals in delight. "My word, the stars!!! A real life mountain dwarf. Come to Thurmunton for a blessing. All we ever get are hill dwarfs normally.

The blessing will be at twelve noon. Cleric Othonos and the brotherhood brings out the effigy of Thurmun, hail Thurmun, which we parade down the road out to Hibb's field and dance. Then the effigy is blessed and all of your kind and those trained in war may kiss its feet

    I envy you indeed!"

'Hold up for a moment. I will go with you once I learn of where to find the blessing. Xanthea, you should come too.'

    Turns to the group.

'We should find out some information about the area whilst the three of us are receiving our blessing. I suggest we meet back here at the tavern in a few hours and discuss our next move.'

    Bandylegs acknowledges the delighted girl.

'Aye, we mountain folk rarely stray far from home. I am of sterner stuff than most though. Tell me dear, is there a store you would recommend if some of me party wished to partake in the tourney today?'

The adventurer's shop is beside the Temple.

Entering the doorbell rings and the shopkeeper runs down the stairs.

"Hello, hello, blessings of Thurmun upon ye my lad. What will you be having?"

"MILLY!!!" he shouts upstairs. A young girl of ten runs down with a necklace of flowers.

"Blessings on ye traveller" she hands Ekbard another necklace.

"No, but I wouldn't put it past anyone in a party where moral has been severly tested after one of its members is to take 4 1/2 times more loot from a quest than everybody else. It must have been from one of the team building lesson I missed as a child."

I will not continue with this childish arguing. You clearly have no sense of honour and are happy to break agreements when it suits you. The agreement I made with the dwarf was clear. I get one third of the treasure available. Not one twelfth, not an 'equal share', one third.
I find it amusing that you are happy to allow your share of the treasure to dwindle away to nothing. You must be a rich man indeed. What if there is 3 gold pieces in the temple. Will you be happy to take one twelfth then?

Ekbard share the story of the Devil encounter with Othegre, about Askint being us to the study, telling us about our quest, about how the Devil could never break his bindings, and about trying to steal the Devils horns. Then about the ensuing fight where Bandylegs had his spine cracked and was dead and how moy injured the beast, and most of all, how he rode on the beasts back and pulled on its horns.

"ha! I thought they called you Devilrider 'cause you're a demon in the sack! And I wondered why only the guys called you that.. but I'm not here to judge, I'm here to help!"

She jerks a thumb at Moy.

"Him? Butterfingers McWheresmyring fought a devil that was stong enough to kill the dwarf?"
She raised an eyebrow. Maybe there's more to his weakling God than she thought. She should tread lighter.

"Hang on, if the dwarf is dead.... How come the dwarf isn't dead?"

Bandylegs notices that Ekbard paid no heed and has gone on ahead. He sighs.

'Ugh, dealing with fighters is worse than understanding devils it seems. Ne'er mind. Xanthea, care to join me on a perusal of Big Betty's?'

He climbs off his horse and ties her to Ekbard's cart. Then he regards the young girl again, who is slightly taller than him.

    'Thank'ee, young 'un.'

He hands her a solid gold piece and then calls her aside.

'Lass, there'll be another two pieces fer ya if ya can tell me where I might find yer saint's tomb. I wish to pay respects from mesel' and Vergadain at some time durin me stay.'

Alexander: I suppose a horse of my own would be in order. Is there anywhere in town that I'd be able to get one?

    She looks dumbfounded.

"We don't go near the tomb, that's only for the brotherhood. They choose who to accept there. But....."

    She looks conflicted.

OOC: Roll a Charisma check, -1.

"I am but a simple acolyte, unschooled in the ways of your foreign God's and saints. But I know creepy. And that little girl is creepy."

She consults her talisman. The closed fist.

"I'm going to go out on a limb here. They're going to kill us or eat us or eat us and then kill us or any fighter that kisses that statue's feet is going to end up fighting the other fighters that kissed it. It's going to be like coldsores with swords and axes. My lady says we should stop the festival."

A voice from behind Alexander says "Good day, I am the village tanner, Sallem, I notice you have talent in magic sir."

Saeros spend some time rummaging around the shop, hoping to find a whetstone to use on his sword and spear. After a fruitless search he wanders over to Ekbard.

I assume you'll be testing yourself in this tourney and I have no doubt that you'll perform magnificently, covering yourself in praise and glory. (I roll a gold coin along my fingers) Of course there are some things some people value more that praise.

Dropping to a whisper I continue,

If a highly rated fighter with the story of his Devil Riding spreading through the crowds, who easily wins his early bouts were to, emmm, unexpectedly lose to an underrated fighter then a shrewd onlooker might reap some handsome rewards and share those rewards with the unfortunate and unlucky fighter who has had an assured victory so unlucky torn away.
A misstep, a slip in the arena and we could both be living large in the tavern tonight.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

    OOC: Yep.

"Well, my man is from the brotherhood, raven-haired and dashing, we often go to the canyon beyond the bluff, for...." she hesitates "....religious study, the tales of Thurmun. Well, he's shown me where the tomb is, behind a boulder is the entrance. It's at the end of the canyon."

    Bandylegs ears prick up.

'Excellent my dear. Here, for you.'

He hands her the two gold pieces.

'What can you tell me about the brotherhood? I have friends who are interested in religious lore and they would love a tale of such an order.'

"They're a religious order, devoted to the memory of Saint Thurmun, trained well in combat they are. They've defended our village from the tribe of Orks that raid from Krasten's forest for over fifty years.

They also guard the tomb, Cleric Othonos is their leader."

    Bandylegs sidles up to Othegre.

'Stay your hand for now, cleric. The blessing may be the only way we can enter the tomb. I will try to find out more from this girl, and I would suggest that others do to. If you find anything of note about the brotherhood, that is what we are looking for.'

Bandylegs thanks the girl and goes to leave, before turning sharply.

'And this Othonos... where may I find him? The Temple I presume?'

"Yes, he prays to Thurmun everyday until noon when the blessing happens. Only during the festival though. The rest of the year he runs his shop. Should be there now, I think."

Bandylegs bids leave of the group and makes for the temple.

'I wonder what this Othonos will want from me in order to gain access to the tomb.'

He stops for a moment outside the temple.

'Vergadain, I may have to stray from your path in order to complete this quest. Please understand that I must do this and endow me with your blessing.'

Bandylegs heads up the temple steps towards the door.

Othegre grumbles to herself but acquiesces. She wanders off down the main Street, noting the speciality shops on either side, looking for anything of interest. She also peeks down any Ally's hoping to catch sight of a dice game. Or a cock fight. Or a footrace. There has to be a prayermeet round here somewhere.

The temple has crude statues of the major gods of Soetrard outside it, as well as a larger one of Soet himself, a dower robed figure with no head beneath the hood. The city's native faith is the major one in this area. The temple also boasts a large central tower with four windows.

Entering, BandyLegs sees a largely empty room with no windows and Cleric Othonos on the ground praying, typical Soet worship, wearing robes similar to Askit's. His face is that of a man in his early 40s with grey hair and thick eyebrows. Behind him sits a large chest with a padlock on it and a door leading up to the tower.

    He doesn't notice BandyLegs enter.
