No Earls would be a shock unless he has an injury. No J McGrath either.

    Both allegedly injured

Wait a minute... released back to the provinces for what...?

And aren't Leinster/Munster lads on holiday this week? Some of them are for sure

I think there are some crossed wires there, Kearney, Byrne and Sweetnam only re-joined the squad yesterday. They couldn't be gone again.

So it's OK, Dave will take his rightful spot on Saturday and we can put all this Stockdale nonsense behind us.

If that is true, Earls injury must be very recent. Unlikely he'd have been sent out on media duty yesterday if he wasn't going to be in the 23

Players have done media duty before and not been picked

Yeah but more often than not they are involved in some capacity. I can't see any gain in sending an injured Earls out to face the media

Using the same principle from Zebo's omission but in reverse surely Tadgh Beirne now qualifies to be selected this season having signed with Munster for next

Come on. Just give a little bit of thought to his current contract and the restrictions that puts on his availability. Think about it. It's a combination of who signs his pay cheque right now and World Rugby test windows.

On form, Healy deserves the start over McGrath

On form, Healy deserves the start over McGrath

I have no strong feelings on this as both are excellent but Healy has been in his best form for a couple of seasons recently. I'd probably go with him too.

Healy is in terrific form but he isn't the player he was. He is a much more powerful player and scrummager and his tackling and rucking are second to none but he struggles with higher intensity games after 20 minutes or so. McGrath is more aerobic and better to put out for 50 - 60 minutes.

I'd fear South Africa milking points off Kilcoyne in the second half truth be told. He's a fine player in the loose but defensively he lacks the power of McGrath / Healy and at the set piece he is a complete liability when under pressure.

Simon Easterby saying they're hoping to have Heaslip back in the New Year.

Would be a great christmas present, fingers crossed.

TOD gone for a shoulder scan. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious. Terrible luck after a great start to his season.

Yeah he's flying, would be a blow if he s sidelined for any length.

And Leavy is carrying an injury for a few weeks now, and Conan has picked up a knock too.

Might yet see Jordi Murphy, JOD or Reidy involved for the Fiji game.

JOD hasn't really played much this season tho, has he?

    I think you're right.

I'd doubt it's at all a coincidence that Murphy is playing in Limerick against Tonga on Friday for the Baabaas. I reckon they're getting him as much gametime as possible so he can contribute in this test series.

James Ryan is going to have more Ireland caps than Leinster caps (again) by the end of this Autumn series. It's like he's already our Sam Warburton and we've already got a bunch of Sam Warburtons.

    Are you sure he's picked?

Not at all, just my suspicion. You posted yesterday that he was still having concussion issues, was this actually the case or just wishful thinking so Dillane would be in on the bench?

    James Ryan doesn't "get" picked

I think Dillane will get the nod anyway but I would have no complaints if Ryan did. Think Schmidt will reckon it's still a tad early to throw him in v SA.

wishful thinking... he has had no concussion issues and has been training fully with ireland

Needs to stop getting injured for Leinster... then he'd have more caps.

He currently has 5 leinster caps, if he plays in all 3 ireland games.. then he will have 5 ireland caps.

Earls it out due to hamstring.

    Conway to start?

Back 3 of Conway Kearney and Stockdale?

Interesting call for the 23 shirt now.

So that rumoured back three of Stockdale, Conway and Kearney could be correct.

I've concerns about Kearney's lack of games, but it's still a decent back line. It's certainly one we've never seen before anyway.

Hopefully not the same one that said Sexton is out!

Last year's victory over NZ in Chicago is doing the rounds on social media again. Does anyone know the name of the piece of music in this piece?

Irish Rugby TV: Ireland v New Zealand Tunnel Cam

    Thanks.
