Great performance by Shane. Ok,will be a little disappointed about missing the Fedex playoffs, but that performance shows he's well able to complete at the top level. With his move to Florida in the new year, lots of reasons to be optimistic for Shane in 2018. Not to mention he will still be competing in a few European events before end of the year.

Pity he missed out on the Fedex playoffs all right, but we might see him in Europe in the next while - anyone know when he's playing next?

Nice touch in his interview after his round - he said he would have loved to make the playoffs, but he has his tour card anyway, and in making the playoffs, he might have been denying some other guy a card for next year. Decent.

Omega European Masters in 3 weeks I believe.

He is 66th on the R2D rankings, the top 60 get to play in the Dubai World Tour Championship so he has an incentive to play a few tournaments on the reminder of the 2017 European Tour, he's currently just €30K in prize money outside the top 60.

I presume he will also be motivated to get back into the top 50 in the OWGR so that he can compete in all the top events next year.

Also the Ryder Cup qualification starts next week.
I am sure that will be one of his aims for next year and he will want to get off to a fast start.

I don't like that attitude of meaning someone else will get a card. Do you think many of the top 100 would say that. Doubt it. They'd be angry with themselves in not making the cut.

Huge ranking points in playoffs he's missing out on. 1st place 74 points this week expected to be.

The positive is back on European tour so should be more happy that closer to family

It was easy to say after the fact, I'm sure if he made play offs he won't have given a feck about anyone elses card.

Hugh money on offer. Winner gets €985k . Should be well into the top 60 for R2D by this time tomorrow.

Played really well today - if he continues this form tomorrow, he really has a great chance.

Well done to Lowry today, terrific stuff. The same goes for Harrington. All 3 of the Irish have played well this week. Dunne has been very consistent over the last while.

Hopefully he can close it out tommorrow . Pietrs and Rose are the obvious threat iin the pack he will need to contend with . iv seen Kiradech blow up on Sunday a couple of times recently so he has to come good at some stage

In last group tomorrow with Paddy & Aphi. 11.31am , 9.31 am Irish time.

Great chance of an Irish win tomorrow☘️⛳️🏆

Best of luck lads, Rose a big threat!

Out in 3-balls tomorrow? Nice for Padraig... gets him into the final group then..... looking forward to tomorrow.

As Padraig alluded to, there’s no real point in getting excited unless they’re in contention going into the back nine. It can all go wrong, and often has done before they reach the turn.

Not trying to be pessimistic but I hate the big build up when Irish players are leading going into the final round and the sense of expectation that they should at least give us a good run at it on Sunday. It’s not that easy, particularly when trying to back up a great round on Saturday.

Wouldn't putt it into a bucket so far today and his snap hook rearing its ugly head a few times .Needs to pick it up or it will be chance gone

Shocking miss. Can't putt it into a bucket

    He'll need a bigger bucket.

Terrible last hole from Harrington, perfect drive then 3 putted(first of the week) for a bogey. Rose is playing well, you'd have to make him favourite.

Great eagle from Harrington. But Rose just made a birdie to pull one in front again.

€134k jumps him up to 49th in R2D.

8 years ago the OP mentions Lowrys fitness as key. Still appears to be an issue , almost always fades on last day .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 265 ✭✭Halfprice

Fitness nothing to do with his play yesterday. Putts just didnt go in. He lipped a good few. Even commentary thought he had a few made and then ball jus moved at the hole. I actually think he looks like he has lost weight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 912 ✭✭✭endabob1

His putting is always streaky imo, when he's hot everything drops, when he's not nothing drops, the contrast between Saturday & Sunday was just that. I don't think it's fitness, I do think it's concentration and he mindframe

8 year obsession with another mans physique is a bit much... let it go.
