Test expired in June - so if everything is so perfect why not throw a fresh test on it and make it a whole lot more saleable? You just know someone is going to come along and offer 500 quid for it as it stands using the lack of valid test as their reason.

    People make me wonder sometimes.

Seller has 21 other cars up,probably only looking to make a quick few bob

Probably auction fodder, scrappage scheme type, bought from a main dealer for €200 and sold cheap for a quick return

    What was wrong with it

Cheap BMWs are usually cheap for a reason.

There's nothing more expensive than a cheap Merc BMW.

It was a m47 engined 320d lads not a space ship.

If a man carried out all the checks you would apply to any semi modern diesel it'd be hard go too far wrong.

They still hold good value though, one that is in visually decent shape with a decent stretch of NCT for sale asking just €1k would raise a red flag with me.

True, it'd have to be approached in an eyes wide open fashion. But it shouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to establish whether its a lemon before purchasing.

    Immaculate condition - engine problems.
I hate when they say that.
It's a fairly expensive repair to do and to have to do it twice is a horrible thought.
    Just scrap them.

Thought i'd give a quick update on my last fixerupper

Well, 14 months and 8000km later and its still flying, NCT'ed until next march. Carried an entire decks worth of timber as well as all sorts of building related stuff over the year. Delighted with it. Only recurring issue was fault with crank position sensor where oil in wires caused bad signals = sometimes no/difficult start. Sorted now though.

Handy for windsurfing as well! :)

I've kept the previous yellow stilo as a donor for parts. Shame, as it too was running perfect, but nobody wants it.

2006 Passat 1.6 with 'juddery' clutch for €795

Surely a 1.6 petrol has no need of a dmf, so might be a cheap enough fix?

The only problem then after you fix it is that you own a 2006 1.6 Passat. Those Passats are pure muck.

    Where there's muck, there's brass. :D

Im sure they will suit some.
Ive not driven a petrol one but the diesel while super popular is not masterpiece in terms of refinement.

Would bank on that being a lemon, that guy is a dealer who sells a lot of cars, if it was a cheap fix he'd fix it, nct and sell it at it's value

900e is quite strong considering it may have a fatal engine problem.

To be fair i've never sold anything in this grey area of running and working but clearly not right, very flexible on price. Might drop it down a bit tomorrow cheers

This the one? A hg gone on those is it's fatal problem.
New engine essentially and it's very long and expensive job.
Even at 900e it's way too much. Half that and someone could take a punt.
