My dad threw out all my Japanese Dreamcast stuff a few years back. I thought he was putting them in the attic found them sitting in the rain. :(

Ouch, but you brought them in and put them in the hot press in a bag of rice, right?

    RIGHT?

Got my SNES mini over the weekend and immediately dove into two games in particular that I have been itching to play for years now, Super Castlevania IV and Super Mario World.

Finished both yesterday and today respectively.

Absolute belters of games I'm so annoyed at myself for never playing them sooner.

At the moment I'm torn between Final Fantasy VI and Zelda: Link to the Past.

I've already gotten about 45 mins into FF6 and I haven't started Zelda yet but I've never played it before and I'm dying to try it. Genuine dilemma here lol

You've not finished SMW unless you get 96 exits. You don't want to be another o1s1n.

It'll be completed in my books if I do that. I'm happy with getting to the end credits.

We already have one failure in our group of regulars. Don't be like o1s1n.

Friends don't let friends wuss out at less than 96 exits.

    Agreed 96 or nothing...

Well I will make an attempt to go for the 96 eventually but I have too many other games I want to play through first.

It's not that hard, I did it in 4 hours last night. Just remember that red stages have 2 exits and most ghost houses as well other than the choco and vanilla one. You are missing out on quite a few levels and unique content otherwise, some secret levels have enemies and hazards unique to them.

Just remember to get the normal exits in star world as they can be easy to forget (like I did last night) and not to hurl your controller at the screen in secret world.

That secret world is a pain alright.

Breezed through it last night but I know what is expected of me from them.

The first time I did it there was much tantrums and gnashing of teeth :)

Noted. It already took me roughly 3.5 hours to get to the ending with 40 odd exits lol

    Dont feel too bad :

The current 100% (commonly known as 96 exit) speedrun record of Super Mario World, is in the hands of speedrunner GreenDeathFlavor, who completed the game in 1 hour, 22 minutes and 41 seconds in February 2017.

The current 11 Exit record of Super Mario World (1991) is in the hands of speedrunner Area51, who beat the game in 9 minutes and 45.630 seconds in February 2017

Also speedrunner PangaeaPanga beat Super Mario World in 15 mins and 59 seconds while blindfolded.

I am trying to play beetlejuice on the NES but cant get it work work properly. text doesn't show and game crashes at certain events,
I am using the ever-drive. I wonder could it be an issue that I am playing a US ROM in a European NES
or is it just the flash drive mapper issue,

Will also be powering up the 360 and playing a few matches on Shadowrun so all in all will be a good weekend :)

Later today I'll be playing SimCity 3000 and I'll start a 3-heart run of my favourite Zelda game, Majora's Mask, spanning over 3 days until Halloween night. I felt that it would be a good opportunity to end the run on that night since Majora's Mask is regarded as one of the more unsettling Zelda games. I have done a similar run last year, but with 9 hearts instead of 3.

Cool, never played Phantasy Star. The only Sega franchises I'm familiar with are Sonic and Super Monkey Ball, and I never got the chance to own a Sega console either, which probably explains why I'm only familiar with 2 of Sega's franchises.

It's all Nintendo and Sony when it comes to the consoles I own at home. Although I did own an Xbox 360 in 2008/09 before it got the Red Ring of Death and an original Xbox, but that broke.

If you don't have the hardware, then give emulation a go pick a few master system/mega drive games you like the look of and if you enjoy them then maybe buy the console/games to be honest I don't think you will be disappointed with either console.

enjoy. it's one of the few jrpgs I played, along with Y's , back then. it's a nice old school one with quite a bit of grinding. Those dungeons animations were jaw dropping at the time.

Appeal of Sega for me was always not knowing what the hell they'd do next. In their heyday they were the types to not follow up their biggest franchise with a mainline sequel. Nintendo were equally experimental but snuck the innovations into existing franchises.

I know, right? We got tons of Sonic spinoffs in the '90s, with the likes of Sonic Spinball, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Sonic Drift, Sonic 3D Blast (or Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island, but 3D Blast rolls off the tongue more easily) and Sonic R.

Speaking of Sonic 3D Blast, someone's enhancing the original Mega Drive game and fixing the game's issues. Here's the most recent video regarding this:
