Was in Smyths yesterday, they've some good deals on Xbox1S (269, couple games and 2 controllers), I got the impression they're trying to shift stock though. Am tempted to pull the trigger. But should there not be a further drop in price the 'S' when the 'X' launches..?

I cannot see the price drop. Both will be current Xbox's but to cater different price ranges. So the One S will stay at it's current price range.

After several years on the 360, three more weeks wont kill me!
    Think I'll wait

Ordered mine there from Currys UK. £449 for One X, with free Forza 7, Halo 5 and Quantum Break.

Do they charge you straight away or when it ships do you know? You going to Parcel Motel/Wizard it?

€55 for the disc in Smyths, can get it for less than €45 online

Mad how its starting out at that price.

I'm all digital now for various reasons so i don't follow the physical prices really.

So I'm seeing reports that there will be no free Kinect adapter for X upgraders. That's a bit annoying.

Moved some posts from the Bargain Alerts thread in here. If it's a bit disjointed, it's because I left the actual bargains in that thread, and just moved the random chat afterwards in.

It’s the fall update so I’m guessing yes. Just downloading it.

Cheers for the heads up. It didn't automatically download for me so I went into settings and clicked check for update.

I have to say I do not like that light theme. First time seeing it and was not impressed at all.

I tried it for a few weeks in alpha and switched back , tried it again tonight and did the same thing. They really didn't get it right at all imo.

I'll hold off on it so, I didn't like the beta either

    Nice.

There's also LAN support for Halo 5. Old School.

If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times, the multiplayer in halo 5 in fantastic. everyone having the same starting loadout and abilities brings the game down to pure skill, co-ordination and control of power weapons. Its a refreshingly oldschool approach to it, but at least it means everyone is on a level playing field at the start of every match.

I have to admit, I really hate games that lock weapons until you hit a certain rank. It's so hostile to new players, starting out against players who have access to a huge range of weapons and skills.

Halo 5 is the refreshing in comparison to others I've played, it just sucks how painfully bad I am at it!

Dumb question time. I'm sure I know the answer but I'm going to ask anyway.

All these enhanced games for the X, they don't need to be purchased again if we already own them, right? There'll be an "enhanced update" pushed out?

It's just that all the new games have noted on the box that the are X enhanced, HDR etc. whereas obviously the old don't/didn't.

Yeah it will just be an update as far as I'm aware.

If you already have an xbox, and you want to get the 4k assets ahead of time, before moving to the X, there's an article below that shows what to do, to make sure your games are ready!

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-download-xbox-one-x-4k-game-assets-your-regular-xbox-one

Just wish I knew what kind of space we're going to need in the future. I don't know if I can justify another 4TB external drive, this side of the new year :)

the big problem I have, is that I'll download terabytes of 4k assets, then launch the game once to see what it looks like, then never play those old games again.

Apart from the witcher 3 - i've held off on doing both DLC's until the X drops, and I'm holding off on Shadow of War until I get the X also.
