As the man from Galway County Council just said on RTÉ:

    "It's a wind-event...that's going to be blowing."

Lot's of fallen trees down south over the last few hours. The plea to limit unnecessary journeys may have already saved some lives. they'd look a lot more stupid if they didn't issue a warning.

If they didn't take it seriously and close the school/etc. I could just imagine the fury at the Government!

They are screwed either way. If it passes without an incident, they'll be accused of overreacting. The opposition will find some stick to beat them with out of this.

Describe bad, please. Not meaning to sound smart with that comment. Genuine question. Is it wind and rain, trees bending etc?

Very windy here in Kerry. Sky signal gone with the dish barely hanging on. Can already see the €100 call out charge im in for from Sky. Lost a rain water gully and manhole cover too.

Downloading movies like a mad man to the tablet before the internet dish goes too

Where are you? If north of Dublin you have 3 or 4 hours to go yet and it will take 3 to 6 hours to pass over you.

Wish there was a ''hurricane'' like this every morning what a morning, the gym being empty being the highlight.

If you have a neighbour you don't like now would be a great time to leave a trampoline in front of their window.

People are furious with the beach walkers on the radio!

Walking on the beach during low tide was not a problem.

However I did see one gob****e heading for the rocks with a bucket - probably going picking periwinkles. Now thats stupidity.

While I don't think where I am will be badly affected, I'd say other parts of the country will be, I'm puzzled by people rejoicing and gloating that the storm appears (right now) to be calmer than predicted. Do you people want a medal?!

I'm really hoping to get rid of my trampoline today.
