    You could say that running no service would have stranded those working nights. Anyone getting the bus this morning knew there was a good chance all services would be cancelled today. Congratulations on finding something frivolous to be outraged about though.

    Nobody is saying they had to cancel all morning services. What they had to do was very clearly state that customers should assume services wouldn't be running from a mornin time onwards unless notified otherwise.

    Instead they went "uhhhh maybe we'll do something". They left it up in air and then people as people always do took a chance.

    The smart move would have been to cancel all services today, instead they've just stranded people in a storm

    There should be serious repercussions for them as a state company

    For providing a service as best as they could do?

    Also they ensured that some people got home from work this morning safely as not everyone works 9-5.

    People were not forced onto the buses this morning and t hey should have known there was a high risk of services being cancelled in a dynamic sitiuation.

    They should never have run today. Or the very least they should have made it explicitly clear they would cancel everything later that mornin.

    They did neither. Incompetence imo.

    I'm in hospital now and we'd have been a bit screwed if no staff had been abe to show up for work. Many of them will end up having to stay long after their shift until they can get home, but they were relieved to have a way into work this morning at least.

    South Dublin 9:40am;

    Just looking out the office window into a peaceful scene of parked cars, still trees and people calmly walking along the path ...

    Wonder is it really going to be as bad as they said it would be?

    Sorry but do you know how these things work? Do you think it just lands down on the country and then gets lifted back out. It has to travel across the country, come back here at 9 tonight and ask the same question.

    Anytime there is bad weather, flooding snow or high winds you'd think the trains would be a wiser choice to get into work if you can. But in my experience, they often shutdown, so I would never rely on them, in those situations. Been caught once or twice.

    Sounds about right - it's been getting steadily gustier since around 4/5am, but I don't think we're getting the full force of it just yet.
    So far, only the bins and some plant pots went flying, and the trees I can see from my window are stripped bare by now.
    There's a good few reports of fallen trees blocking roads all across the county already, though.
