I'm two bottles into my emergency supply now, just about to crack on with a third. Have some win and a geansai load of rum though, so be grand.

Disappointing lack of coverage in the international media of our hurricane. I'll just have to wildly speculate until morning ireland is on in the morning.

    Top Story on Dutch News.

All social welfare and Intreo offices/meetings cancelled as well.

What sort of damage are we looking at tomorrow? 70mph+ winds?

It's classed as a category 2 which is mean speeds in excess of 80 mph

This is actually getting kind of scary. I wasn't taking it seriously till now. Just a drop of rain I kept telling myself. When the boss texts telling you to stay safe and take the day off you know it's serious.

If you'll excuse emotion a tick, oh god help us with elderly relatives that do not follow the news and refuse to leave their routine. My partner is trying to convince his mother that she cannot be driving to work in Kerry at 11am tomorrow. The attitude of "ah, it will be grand" goes from ludicrous to terrifying when it's suddenly personal.

She's actually lucky. In the sense that she'll realise she can't drive to work once she walks up. It's the people further up the country who are in trouble. They'll end up driving to work only to realise how lethal driving home will be.

I've actually dismantled the trampoline there now because I tied it to a tree, but I just wasn't happy. Our shed is a creepy place at the moment because I put all of my wife's bloody knomes in there and when you open the door 100 are staring back at me.

Only home from holidays this evening so have no shopping in. Work cancelled tomorrow so hoping I can get stuff in the morning before it gets bad in Dublin.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I'm very confused about all the fuss, there's no sign of any storm, it's very quite out there.

The usual lot have decided to take the day off tomorrow at taxpayers expense. I know I sound like a killjoy but we really do take the piss in this country.
I have to drive from Wicklow to Letterkenny tomorrow morning for work. I'm self-employed. Nobody will pay my bills if I don't work.

In all seriousness, god help anybody sleeping rough tonight. I hope there have been some actions taken to help those in need.

Lovely night. I was just out panic-buying Kinder Buenos (I do this every Sunday night) and I was struck by how mild it is.

Even Evelyn Cusack doesn't look too worried, just chillin' and having a smoke with the lads at the National Emergency Coordination Group.

Hence the phrase 'the calm before the storm'

Not so easy to get a grip when you have 2 kids that need minding with 12 hours notice

I'd recommend getting a babysitter for the kids not a grip.

You should stop ranting and just cancel that trip tomorrow.

No job is worth the risk of that drive.
