So should people go to school or work tomorrow or not?

How come areas of Florida were evacuated for a tropical storm but nothing is being done here for a hurricane?

No school or colleges will be open tomorrow anyway.

Where can you evacuate to? We live on an island. :D

You'd be joining a lot of sheds, ridge tiles and trampolines if you did get airborne.

    Anyone excited about it?

I'm curious about seeing a proper storm.

(And also no work in the morning if it's as bad as they say it's gonna be).

No. The wind damage is nothing to get worked up over. Now if it were a lightning storm...ooohh baby!

Excitement and expectation getting too much for you?

Anyone looking to get into the catastrophe mood early if you
head on over to youtube there is a number of 70s Disaster genre movies there in their entirety - 'Towering Inferno', 'Airport 1970', 'Airport 1975' and lots more. break out the popcorn, enjoy. Modern classics 'Day after Tommorow' 'The Wave' 'Into The Storm' all on trrt

Light some candles and pretend your power is gone for extra atmosphere. Eat canned vegetables uncooked.

The ESB Networks website is showing only one fault in the country at the moment - 54 homes out in Longford. Expect it will be showing hundreds more by this time tomorrow. Best of luck to all the crews who will be heading out; they always do a genuinely world-class job in restoring power as quickly as possible.

With regard to avoiding travel, is that by bicycle and large trucks etc or does that apply to motorway driving in a car aswell?

I work a good hour drive away but pretty much all on m1 and M50. Should i be texting work to say im not going to make it in? i dont want to thinking im blowing it out of proportion here.

    Ex- Hurricane

Speaking on this evening's weather forecast, meteorologist Joanna Donnelly told viewers "this is not the remnants of a hurricane - this is a hurricane".

As it's not RTE and many more bodies than Met Eireann, I suggest you take note.
