The fact that theres not even a thread yet says it all really, what is going on with ETH? Its completely stuck around $300. Are all the ICOs liquidating at this level or something? All the momentum seems to have fallen away. I have about 50% left compared to when I started with it and tempted to dump everything and wait and see what happens with BTC.

Right now it's a coiled spring that is just waiting to explode. I think what you're seeing with Bitcoin right now is a lot of new interest coming into the market. As these people get accustomed to it and start understanding it and blockchain better, they will latch onto the potential around Ethereum. I feel that if Bitcoin is likely to be a 10x from here, then Ethereum could potentially be a 50x. You just have to be patient enough to buy and hold.

If you look at the history of bitcoin, it was a slow gradual rise and then *Boom* off it took..

And thats not even showing its full history, only from May 2013 till now.

Ethereum could be exactly the same.. only time will tell.

I'm gonna pick up a few and sit on them, see what happens.

Yeah Im still going to hold, average around €156 and Ive been lucky with a couple of trades aswell, Im definitely leaning in a bearish direction though.

Not much of a chance of the alt coins really gaining any traction at the moment, especially when the price of BTC increases by €400 overnight alone....

But I'm convinced on its long term viability in a real world business use. It is more akin to fiat than any other crypto e.g. can be affected by inflation.

If/When businesses move en-masse to digital currencies, I think it will be to cryptos that correlate closely to fiat. In my opinion.

Buy on kraken. Transfer to secure and backed up offline wallet.

But in real terms it's not really doing well at all, is it?
If you examine Eth as a function of the BTC/ETH pair you'll see that ETH has dropped from a 0.10 rate against BTC in July to a current rate of 0.06. That's a serious fall in any language.
Let's face it, many -- if not most - people have bought their ETH with BTC.
And in the case of those who have bought ETH with fiat they have suffered a loss as against if they had put that money into BTC.
Anyway you look at it, ETH has not had a good last three months at all.

Ha, you picked the July crash as a comparison?
You could have picked the July ATH of ~460 either and show an approximate 20% reduction.

The original poster was talking about the last 3 months. I picked exactly three months from today.

When I quoted the post I thought it was fairly obvious I was talking it direct context to it......perhaps not :rolleyes:

One could argue that ETH is undervalued at the moment based on that. Main reason I'm not yet realising my ETH profit even though it is tempting at close enough to €300

There is no other reason for optimism - it's the point of Ethereum!

Bitcoin's first "slow drip" lasted 1.5 years until the next surge.
After that surge? 7 months of a slow drip.
After that? 3 Years before it started pushing to the next ATH.

Read the stories of everybody who regrets selling their BTC off on a dip or while stagnant.

Don't do the same with ETH.

hmmm I have a few grand resting in coinbase atm, maybe if it goes down further I might move it over to gdax & try a scalp

I was thinking that myself... well, not scalping exactly, but taking a small profit (maybe €80) each time it zooms between 250 and 265.

I dont know why I stopped earlier in the year tbh, had a few great trades the first couple of times it crashed down to low 200s and shot back up before the current doldrums, probably thought it was going to follow BTC up seeing as the ration was locked on 0.07 for so long, now BTC is nearly 100% up since then and ETH is hanging around $300 with a ration of 0.04-ish. Id say every time it starts to move up a load of ICO ETH gets dumped.

Starting to think about cashing in. I've had a good ride from 5 to 260. But the two bad news stories and the lack of anything movement good or bad has me thinking it's run its course.

this is the last time i touch ETH...unless there is some really really good ICO that i am interested in. DAO hack was huge back then, and then the congestion **** and then we all thought it would be nice and dandy from now on and then we get this massive loophole that burnt 150mil down the drain.

Imagine i woke up and 100 ETH in my wallet are no longer mine.

The time to get rid was the instant the news broke not 40 hours later, luckily it seems to have had feck all effect and ETH has returned to its beloved $300.

Worth remembering aswell that this is shoddy programming by a third party wallet provider, if it was a fundamental flaw in Ether there would have been carnage.

Ive had a good run aswell, I think I will be reducing my holding the next time it runs a bit. Then again you research it and the future looks so bright, there are genuine products being built with it by legitimate companies in ways you dont see with any other coin, including BTC.

The next BTC fork this month could be the catalyst to break this $300 situation anyway.

Indeed. Was all set to dump my ETH tomorrow. Might do still but I'll wait now to see where this market is heading.

Considering that about $300M was supposedly nuked by some ETH developer, the currency is doing excellent to be where it is at this point in time. :pac:

Why cant I bring myself to swing trade ETH? Its basically free money, but every time it goes up I end up thinking now is the time it will run to $500-1000 but it always just sinks back. I did it a couple of times at first and paid my rent for the year but then lost my nerve.

Best to swing trade with a high liquidity coin which fluctuates and you believe in outside of wanting ETH to moon, one that you wouldn't feel too bad about being stuck in for a while with a bit of your stack because you know it'll swing back eventually.

Sold all my bought ETH for a decent profit during the week. Sold all my mined ETH even a good bit higher than that a day later. Could have HODL and would have made a tiny bit more of course with hindsight, but the bird is in the hand and all that

And of course still mining away. Getting ever more anxious to expand because my current rigs are so cool / undervolted that they do not provide the room temperature boost that I envisaged them to have.
