Name the only two non-communist European countries that did not benefit from the Marshall Plan (excluding mini-states e.g. Monaco and non-sovereign entities e.g. Malta.)

great question that one OG, by the way.... Marvel or DC?
Pft, Dark Horse comics all the way, or Renegade Press as they now are linked/crossover, "Cerberus The Aardvark" and "The Flaming Carrot" are still my favourite comics ever.

EC comics - used to do Mad magazine along with a raft of other stunning works (Tales from the crypt, Weird Fantasys). Very old school.

Some of the most beautiful comics stem from the French publishing house Métal Hurlant who introduced me to the works of Corben, Bilal etc., - probably NSFW if you are going to google them.

Back at your question of Marvel or DC though...DC all the way. I like the darker edge that they sometimes portray rather that the "joke for a jokes sake" that Marvel tend to throw out.
I know there are exceptions on both sides and I have loves and hates from both publishing houses but if I were forced to make a choice it would be DC.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

    Pure process of elimination.

Nobel Prizes are usually presented in Stockholm except one. Which one, what city is it presented in and who decided on the location?

Peace, in Oslo. A throwback to the union 1814-1905.

Who decided? Damn me if I know. Maybe Alfred Nobel.

Incidentally I saw a joint Norway-Sweden consulate in Corfu in 1972. I wonder if they still share consular services. I think they may have discontinued.

Nobel, I think, decided on Stockholm as he was born there and also on Oslo as both were united at the time, early 1800's I think?

Full marks - almost! I probably worded it badly but I'm sure you know - which prize is the exception?. It was late 1800 btw.

A little statue that she thought looked like her uncle. If only I could remember his name. ;)

I wonder whether the Grammies were named after someone's grandparent, too. :pac:

Sorry. I've been otherwise engaged. In any event feargale, being a humble man, wouldn't be making an issue out of it.

    Given the current stamp controversy:

Which Irishman was commemorated on a stamp of the USSR?

P.S. I'm chancing that there was only one. I hope I'm not called out on this.

Oh there were so many Irishmen on stamps in the old CCCP stamps.;)

But I'll pick GB Shaw at random. He was on the 40 kopek stamp. It as mid 50s I believe.

My late brother was a great stamp collector and we often used to wade through the albums.

Shaw is correct, about 1954. I believe other foreign writers were similarly commemorated. Certainly Robert Burns was.

Incidentally, Shaw was descibed on the stamp as an English writer.
