I found that very funny because of the Trinidad commenator just saying, in a barely raised voice, "Oh, and it goes in."

But I definitely take your point.

Anyone planning on going to the live show? I don't like the look of the venue for having a few beers while watching. I'm basing this on photos, never there myself.

Has there been any mention of the David Walsh letter for Tom Humphries this week? I think I've listened to everything but do fall asleep on the train on occasion.

Would be disappointed if they don't deal with it. I signed up at the start with the hope that the lads would branch out a bit more into journalism, its got the price point spot on to be honest, I won't unsubscribe but the output is very mixed.

He just lost the passion for casual violence against pupils?

Would that be considered a sports story though? I know they're both sports writers but it's a child abuse case and I'd be pretty uncomfortable listening to the lads discuss it.

Didn't they do a series on interviews with non sporting sports fans a couple of years back?

David Baddiel and Parkinson and that. What happened to that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,777 ✭✭✭✭Ol' Donie

Also, isn't/wasn't Richie heavily involved in LOI?

He could do a bit about that every now and then?

The US Murph story about the Irish caddy was brilliant.

Ah the old "well it makes me uncomfortable so I don't want to hear about it", great life philosophy you have there.

Sports story? Pretty much every show they delve into topics far removed from sports and I would count a sports journalist backing up a child molester very much sports media related.

It's not lost on me that Tom Humphries (you know the guy who made a 15 year old girl very uncomfortable) is a former employee of the Irish times, but yeah there's no connecting the Irish Times with Ken, Ciaran and David Walsh.

As far as I can remember those interviews were a feature when they first started up with the Irish Times. It was summer, they were finding their feet and there was no tournament on that year so they were just beefing up the content with interviews that weren't 100% sports related.
I remember the Parkinson interview being crap.

How many other Irish podcasts are covering it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Cause if it's more than just sc this conspiracy could go right to the top.

*Eyes shift from side to side in suspicion*

Ken was rightly dismissive of the lad living in the Congo’s daft email about how there are no top young players emerging anymore since Ronaldo and Messi. Why mcdevitt bothered to read it out was odd. Seems the way to get your email read out on SC is to be in a foreign country.

I'm not sure why they woul cover it. It has very little to do with sport. Humphries was long gone from IT by the time Second Captains started working for them.

    Nothing to do with sport?
You must be joking. The guy used the cover of camogie coaching to groom and abuse her. What have Vincent's said on this?

Are we going to talk about every story sc don't cover now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,950 ✭✭✭yosser hughes

I think any discussions on the Tom Humphrey's story should wait until after sentencing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,472 ✭✭✭Ivefoundgod

Now that Donal Og is in the middle of it after the character reference thing it'll likely get more coverage in the media but still don't see SC covering it. What could they add to the debate? An awful man did awful things and is being rightly punished for it, there's no great conspiracy to it and theres no suggestion anyone in Vincents or in the media "knew". This isn't Weinstein where it was some open secret.

It's quite a serious topic, perhaps you could get back to the more relaxed area of posting quotes ad nauseum
