Even with your advice of not to buy my the other half insisted bought about 1.2k of TAW last night! at present price we are already in loss!!
Please dont invest on other peoples advice, you can get a tip from message boards but from then on its up to you to do the research, low market cap miners can disappear overnight or spend years diluting down and bleeding away 99% of their market cap, it happens over and over again, only invest money you dont need and can afford to lose. TAW and others share prices could easily spend the guts of a year drifting down from here before we see any action again aswell, its a high risk sector.

Its hard to resist the urge to check these things daily.
I check daily. You need to have a certain disposition to be able to watch
a stock go down and down and down and still hold or even average down if why you bought hasn't changed. 1.2k could be a lot for you €500 is a lot for someone else and to another that a night on the town.

TBH you sound like you have jumped into this based on the advice here. That's something you need to be very careful of because many will give tips with very little basis. I have outlined why I think this is a good one, I'm in deep myself so I guess I wouldn't say anything else but lots of games go on with companies Share prices by the big money and those in the know in the small capped companies on the ASX. It's not an even playing field not even close. Don't take too much attention to the daily gyrations. This will be a lot different in 6 months time to what they are now, hopefully for the better.

Thanks all for your kind message, I'll watch price closely from today onwards hopefully we won't be in too bad of position!!

There can be a lot of price manipulation on the ASX. For a company with such a small market cap, big players can drive it up and down as they please. So this may be the beginning of a drive down to 30c levels in order for accumulation at cheaper prices to take place. This will be a learning experience for you in terms of psychological disposition provided you can hold your nerve - a loss isn't a loss unless you sell. The company has excellent prospects so sit back and enjoy the ride.

Funnily, I bought bitcoin (BITCOIN-XBTE.ST) for much the same nerve-testing!

I see LPD touched 0.04 today. Anyone sell or are you holding out ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 952 ✭✭✭Prezatch

Sadly I didn't jump on this - would have been another >100%, this time in just over a week

It closed at 1.4c the day after they released the big announcement with Galaxy last week so there was ample opportunity to get in. Lastnight's close was 3.1c

I haven't been following the stock much but I reckon it has more legs given a market cap of still only 64m AUD and the huge strategic partner that is GXY.

From what I can tell this happened in April this year and again last year sometime. Seems to be standard practice prior to a major announcement.

They have been suspended three times in the last year pending a company announcement. See link.

Edit: Announcements are also listed in the link.

Another tie up between a Chinese car maker and one of the Aussie lithium miners, that's very good news for TAW in terms of getting it on people's radars.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 336 ✭✭b4bmm

Delighted with this. This management is top class.
The best funding deal out of any of the lithium plays on the ASX, meaning very little discount given to get funding over the line.
Looking forward to the companies comments tomorrow as to what the funds will be used for.
It will be used for sure for sustaining capital before lithium sales and likely to fund the installation of the lithium fines circuit.
Both Amal and TAW have a decent cash balance now and all interests are aligned between TAW, AMAL, Burwill and Jiangxi.

SHANGHAI, Oct 19 (Reuters) - China's Jiangxi Special Electric Motor Co Ltd 002176.SZ said on Thursday it planned to buy stake in an Australian lithium mining and exploration company, the latest electric vehicle company to scoop up supplies of raw materials.

Jiangxi, which makes electric vehicles and lithium batteries, said its German division had agreed to pay A$20 million ($15.72 million) for an 11.45-percent stake in Tawana Resources NL (TAW) .

Tawana has a 50-percent interest in the Bald Hill lithium and tantalum mine in Western Australia, which is expected to ship its first lithium concentrate shipment in March 2018, it said.

Tawana also owns 100 percent of the Mofe Creek project, an iron ore project in Liberia.

China, the world's biggest auto market, said it wants electric and plug-in hybrid cars to make up at least a fifth of Chinese auto sales by 2025 and eventually phase out traditional cars part of government efforts to improve air quality.

Lithium is a key ingredient for making batteries for products like mobile phones and electric vehicles.

Tawana's shares were halted on Wednesday pending an announcement on funding for Bald Hill.

News of this deal follows an announcement last month from Great Wall Motor Co Ltd 601633.SS that it will take a small stake in Australian lithium miner Pilbara Materials Ltd.

Australia was the world's largest lithium producer in 2016, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

China's EV production could reach 1 million vehicles next year and 3 million by 2020, Xu Heyi, chairman of carmaker BAIC Group 1958.HK , said on Wednesday, likely exceeding a government set target. ($1 = 1.2721 Australian dollars)

Half gutted Degiro won't let me buy TAW since it was mentioned here last week.... but at the same time I would only have been buying small amounts. It looks promising though?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,182 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Same, 4 trades now all executed flawlessly, give them a ring, they're pretty good on the phone. I suspect it's just not hitting your limit though.

Should we move the lithium chat to the lithium thread BTW or is that just for tesla?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,019 ✭✭✭ct5amr2ig1nfhp

Bought TAW no problem on the degiro website - there is just no pricing information available on degiro.

Although, has anyone been able to buy LPD on the ASX? It's not listed on the website for some reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 952 ✭✭✭Prezatch

Bloody hell, mind blowingly good deal. 20m AUD raised pretty much out of thin air with little to no dilution to current shareholders. Forget 50c, this is going much further in the next 12 months. The recent rocketing in share price of Galaxy and Pilbarra have shown the value of being a producer right here right now at this moment in time and TAW are on track with this burst of finance to be the next producer, beating Altura Mining.

Sorry for derailing thread, still new at DeGiro, i'd say I was making a mess of the currencies somehow! :o Will try again and see if I can figure it out.

Guy in work is plugging shares in Taseko Mining TGB , looks more promising now than it did when he first mentioned it to me but still could be one for the long haul, doesn't look like the New Prosperity mine is going to go ahead anytime soon

You can only put in orders to buy at this time of the day as the ASX doesn't open for trading until later tonight. They'll sit on the system and will be filled when the market opens.

I'd imagine that you'll probably want to set your limit price in the order (max you want to pay) close to current share price, but I'd say there's a high probability of this opening a good bit above the last close, so your order would not be filled in that case (limit below the price).

Its the Limit (AUD) is where its messing up. Current price is .36 AUD, but if I try and put anything less than 1 AUD into the limit order box it isnt happy

e.g. if I put .37 it just says please enter a limit price and doesnt update the Euro amount

    Put in the zero? "0.37"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 509 ✭✭✭bigronnie9

it actually let me make the order using the app...strange!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,026 ✭✭✭crushproof

I had some trouble buying ASX stocks last week on De Giro. Kept coming up with errors but I just tinkered with the limit price etc and eventually it went through. Shame it's a hefty trading fee compared to other parts though. But heck it'll be obliterated by the profits we'll all be taking 😀

Anyone checked this ETF out? Artificial intelligence picking the stocks, only up and running since October, but outperforming the S&P so far.
