1 euro more for standard, 2 for premium.

    So Basic stays at €8, Standard 10 > 11, Premium 12 > 14.

For their output I'm ok with that I find it value for money.

They are citing increased competition as the reason for the price increase, which makes no sense in Ireland where they have no competition whatsoever.

And Amazon Prime is now here too although to be honest I haven't heard of anyone I know using either service.

I actually signed up to Amazon Prime for an initial offer of 2.99 a month and couldn't find anything that I was mad eager to watch. Also didn't find it as user friendly as Netflix.

The Premium subscription gives me 4k content for my TV and the four of us can all watch different content at the same time so €14 is still great value for us compared to what I was paying on Sky. It gets used every single day for several hours a day in our house.

I wouldn't consider Now TV or whatever passes for Amazon Video over here as serious competition to Netflix in Ireland.

TBH, I'm totally OK with that extra euro, especially if they both continue to create amazing content and also get the rights to excellent shows. We're pretty lucky to get the likes of Star Trek: Discovery, it seems, as it's only available on CBS in the US, I think?

I have never seen the series. It only came out today :D

Question - what language is the series in? Italian too?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,752 ✭✭✭johnpatrick81

I'm pretty sure it's in Italian too. And yeah, true! I guess that answers my question, will start with the film :pac:

I've been told many times that its very good!

That along with Inglorious Bastards, I haven't got around to watch yet.

I pretty much refuse to let Now TV be competition when Sky charges double the UK price, has no chromecast support (only launching on PS4 many months later), has random missing episodes....I have made it my life's mission to inform anyone I can of this appalling behaviour.

Doesn't help that lots of Irish media outlets seemed to be paid off to shout its praises when it launched. It hasn't done well I think but I want them to suffer

.....I just want to watch some shows at a fair price alright
